Top 300 Quotes From Troian Bellisario

Toby: I love you, so much
Spencer: I wanted to say that first

Spencer: [coming downstairs, finds unexpected visitor] What are you doing here?
Jenna: Your mother let me in. I thought we had an agreement, but you don't seem to care about that anymore.
Spencer: What are you talking about?
Jenna: Ian's dead. Alison's murder has been solved, but you're still digging.
[shakes her head, smiles]
Jenna: Digging like the hungry terrier that you always reminded me of.
Spencer: [offended] Great. I got it. Now why don't you leave?
Jenna: [gets up] I know Toby's helping you. I know he was going through my room.
[facing: ]
Jenna: You need to stop. What you're doing is dangerous for you and for Toby.
Spencer: What, you expect me to believe that you care about Toby?
Jenna: I do care about him.
Spencer: [smirks] Right. Well, I know all about that, remember?
Jenna: [forcing fake grin] Well, I guess I've said all I have to say.
[starts leaving]
Spencer: [sarcastic] Thanks for stopping by.
[as: ]
Spencer: Oh, and tell Garrett I said hi.

Spencer: It's not about me. It's about Alison. Look, I understand why you're angry. Okay, stealing that key card, it was stupid. And it was impulsive, and it put you in a really terrible position. But she just didn't think it through.
Officer: You sure about that? Because ever since I got to Rosewood, all I've heard about Alison is that she's a master planner and manipulator.
Spencer: Yeah, but you didn't believe that. You gave her a chance.
Officer: I gave her more than that. And look where we are.
Spencer: Look, Lorenzo, uh...
[sits down]
Spencer: I know how you feel. I mean, I have been used and abused by that girl more times than I can possibly count. But she has changed.
[nods]
Spencer: She's been through so much. And she's desperate. And I know that she needs you.
Officer: No. I think she got what she needed.
Spencer: I think you're wrong. Alison never had anyone like you in her whole life. Somebody who saw something in her that was vulnerable and genuine.
Officer: I did. But I don't anymore.
Spencer: And there's... really no way you could ever forgive her?
Officer: Not yet.
[gets up to leave]
Spencer: Okay, okay. Look. Um. If you change your mind, we're having a prom-ette in the barn behind my house tonight. And maybe you could... surprise her. Maybe you could... surprise yourself.

Hanna: [sent Mona to go fetch snacks] Don't pay any attention to her. She's just insecure.
Spencer: Yeah, like a pit bull. Why are you friends with her?
Hanna: Once you get to know her, she's really funny. And she's always there for me... even if it's just to watch me try on shoes.

Spencer: [reads message on cellphone] "Solve the puzzle, get away with murder."
Emily: [new message] "Or fail and go directly to jail."
Hanna: All right. So, we continue playing the game or the cops find out what we did.
Emily: Didn't we already know that?
Aria: Yeah, but now it's a race. We have to solve this puzzle before the cops can solve Dunhill's murder.
Alison: Furey already suspects that Archer was killed the night he disappeared. He's gonna find out the truth.
Spencer: No one can screw up her turn. Not anymore. If the cops get one more clue about what we did...
Aria: ...It's game over.

Aria: Any luck with Big Bird's phone number?
Spencer: No. I plugged it into every reverse directory and search engine I could. But it's a real number. It's going through a real line. But I can't even find a name or even a town.
Aria: Dead end?
Spencer: No. Not yet. I'm not giving up on it.

Spencer: One of us knows how to change a tire, right?
Emily: And you're looking at me 'cause I'm gay?
Aria: No,
[shrugs]
Aria: you just happen to be the sporty one.

Spencer: I don't understand when people say that. What is timing? Timing's for figure skaters and... comedians. You either love someone or you don't.

Spencer: You bought him groceries?
Aria: It was not groceries.
[holding: ]
Aria: It was two sandwiches. And believe me, I'm still paying for it. You should have seen the look that he gave me.
Spencer: Well, he's your boyfriend, Aria. He's not a baby squirrel.
Aria: [shrugs] I was just trying to do the right thing.
Spencer: Totally wrong. Look, I've been there, I've done that. Every time you baby-squirrel Ezra, you're taking away his nuts.
Aria: You did not just say that.
Spencer: I did. But I don't think that I meant to.

Aria: If we do this,
[shakes her head]
Aria: there's no stepping back from it.
Spencer: And we risk the police finding out about Archer.
Caleb: You mean finding out that Hanna ran him over and you buried him like a dog?
Alison: To quote my dead husband, "Karma's a bitch."
Emily: It was an accident.
Spencer: And we knew how it looked. We did it to protect Hanna.
Mona: Who's currently our resident girl gone rogue.
Caleb: [phones] I'm trying her one last time.
Mona: Let's just ping her cell and go get her.
Caleb: I gave her a new phone, okay? You can't hack it.
[Mona glares at him]
Aria: [dial tone on Caleb's phone] Oh, why isn't she picking up?
Emily: Because Noel probably has her locked up in another slaughtering hole.
Hanna: [voice mail] Hey, it's Hanna. Leave a message.
Mona: Let's just call the cops, okay? Tell them everything you just told us about Jenna and Noel.
Emily: And Sara Harvey. None of us believes that was an accident.
Aria: [grabs her handbag] I'm heading to the Radley. Maybe Jenna will lead us to Noel.
[goes off]
Spencer: Do we call Furey or 911?
Aria: Noel is out there somewhere, and he might have Hanna.
[Spencer dials]
voice: 911, what's your emergency?
Spencer: [rueful look at Aria] I think my friend's been abducted.

[last lines]
Aria: [texts received] "Mona played with dolls, I play with body parts."
Spencer: "Game on, bitches."
Aria: "A."

Emily: [early morning, group going downstairs] I didn't realize life existed at this hour.
Aria: [rushing to computer] Come on, guys, just walk. You need to see this.
Hanna: You know, I always hoped my first sunrise would have tequila in it.
Spencer: I'll make coffee.
Hanna: Well, when it's ready, just pour it down my throat.

Spencer: [coffee in bed] Be careful. I could get used to this.
Caleb: Honestly, I just wanted to, uh, make sure you were fully awake.
Spencer: For what?
[smiles]
Caleb: I think we need to go to the cops with these new texts.
Spencer: I'm awake.
Caleb: I mean, if we really are back to square one with A...
Spencer: Mm-mm. We don't know for sure if this is an A. I don't know, that trash can of black hoodies felt like someone was saying that all the rules are changed. And all we know for sure is that this A isn't Charlotte. It could be anybody. Anywhere. Hiding in plain sight.
Caleb: As in Sara Harvey? I mean, do you really think that it is her hiding behind all those evil emojis?
Spencer: I don't know. She can't really type that well.
[shrugs]
Spencer: Maybe a picture is easier for her to send.
[sighs]
Spencer: I'm starving. Can we have anything?
Caleb: Yeah, I've got a little something. You want a refill?
Spencer: Yes, please.
[hands over her empty mug]
Caleb: Hey, what about Ezra? Couldn't he clear this up? Anybody heard from him?
Spencer: No. My guess is that he left town to avoid telling us what he knows.
Caleb: I mean, I'm not saying you need to build an airtight case... We could just go to Toby.
Spencer: [quickly] No. Caleb, he's... finally happy. He's moved on. I don't wanna throw this in his path. At least not until we have more than a few snarky emojis from an unlisted number and a photo of an alleged murder weapon.
Caleb: I guess you're right. I mean, we're talking about Aria's dad. You know, it's like, if he did it, he did it to protect her.
Spencer: If we were to get this golf club, Sara couldn't hold it over our heads. And we really could go to the cops about her.
[her watch beeps]
Spencer: It's a calendar alert. I have lunch with Gil? I really don't remember scheduling that. My God, this election is totally eating up my brain.
[checks: ]
Spencer: Oh, my God, I have endless e-mails. And then I have that strategy session this afternoon. And I have to make those campaign calls.
Caleb: [behind her, stroking her hair] Yeah, I've been pretty distracted the last few days, too.
Spencer: I might... be slightly distracted.
Caleb: Is this distracting you?
Spencer: Mm. No. No, I could probably just... get a few e-mails done if you have to continue.
Caleb: Yeah.
[chuckles, kisses her neck]
Caleb: What about this?
Spencer: That's slightly more distracting.
[not much work will get done here now]

Aria: Can't believe it was trashed... Just when you thought that "A" would give it a rest.
Spencer: It's like Toby had to kill Alison all over again.
Hanna: Toby? What do you mean, Toby? His motorcycle was totaled. Isn't he dead?
Spencer: I hear more from Alison now than when she was alive.
Hanna: You guys, I thought we decided "A" wasn't Toby. "A" was happy to have Toby out of the picture.
Aria: How do we know that Toby didn't just send that text? And why are we suddenly trusting "A"? "A" made a fake bracelet to mess with us.

Emily: Poor Ali.
Hanna: Can you believe what a scene this is?
Aria: Alison would've loved it.
Spencer: Popular in life and death.

Aria: What? We just wait until A paints the town red in our DNA?
Spencer: I don't know.
Hanna: One drop here, one spot there, and kaboom, we're all sharing a jail cell with Ali.
Spencer: You're, like, the queen of not helping.
Aria: See, there's a reason I'm afraid of needles.
Hanna: [sighs] We should have all spent the summer in Haiti.

Aria: Hanna, are you sure that you wanna do this?
Hanna: First it was Aria, then Ali. Whoever's next could end up lying in a casket instead of a hospital bed. And we all decided this is the right thing to do.
Spencer: Okay, but we can un-decide. It's not too late.
Hanna: Yeah, but I trust Caleb.
Spencer: I do, too.

[first lines]
Aria: [in restaurant] Do we really believe that Jenna was out for a joyride that night?
Spencer: Or was her plan to take Emily to Alison's grave all along?
Emily: It seemed to me like she was scared of someone.
Aria: And it seemed like she was blind for five months when she wasn't.
Hanna: For purposes of my head not exploding, can we just say that she was telling the truth?
Spencer: Well, that would mean that we would cross her off the new A list.
Aria: And who's still on it?
Emily: Lucas.
Hanna: No way. He might be a little unhinged lately, but he's not capable of digging up a grave.
Spencer: Guys, all roads lead back to the Black Swan.
[Aria nods]
Spencer: Uh, we know that she was working with Mona, the sketches were in her lair.

Hanna: [takes away beverage from jittery friend] I'm cutting you off. You're over-caffeinated!
Spencer: What? It's herbal tea!
Hanna: Spencer, I'm going to have a breakdown, okay? And your floppy foot is pushing me over the edge.
Spencer: Go sit over there, we're all really tense.
Hanna: Tense? A knocked me out, shot me up and played post office between my teeth.
[quotes: ]
Hanna: "Dead girls can't smile."
Emily: If we don't keep trying to help Ali, she'll never be able to come home.
Aria: Yeah, and the longer she's out there on her own, the easier it is for A to get to her.
Hanna: We're not doing anything.
[shakes her head]
Hanna: We're just gonna wait for her to contact us again.
Spencer: Yeah, if she contacts us. I mean, I might have biffed that one... permanently.
Emily: We don't know that for sure.
Hanna: Could we just all agree on this to keep us safe?

Officer: Hey, Spencer.
Spencer: Yeah?
Officer: Why would Ian want Ali dead?
Spencer: Because she was going to tell Melissa about their affair.

Spencer: [on phone] Hello.
Alison: Can you hear me?
Spencer: Ali?
Alison: My Dad drove me in the middle of the night. He hid my cell-phone, his car keys. I'm stuck here.
Spencer: Ali, I need to tell you something.
Alison: Charles... is alive. He threatened my Dad. He said he's coming home for his birthday.
Spencer: His birthday?
Alison: Today, Spencer. My Dad called Jason. And begged him to leave the house. He's determined to see Charles. No matter how dangerous it is.
Spencer: Okay, and your Dad didn't think to tell any of us?
Alison: Charles isn't after you. Not this time. But if Jason tries to meet him...
[shakes her head]
Kenneth: [bangs on door] Alison!
Alison: Just one minute, Dad!
Kenneth: Where's my phone? Did you take my phone? Whoever you're talking to, hang up now!
Spencer: Ali?
Alison: I've gotta go. Please, talk to Jason. And be careful.
[opens door for her Dad]
Alison: I know you're trying to protect me. But what about Jason? What about my friends? We have to tell someone. Tell the police!
Kenneth: Tell them what? That I lied about my son for two decades? That I thought he was dead, and I was wrong? Will you just give me one day, just one day, to figure things out?

Mona: It's gonna require a really big lie, and I'm terrible at that. Which of you girls is best at hiding the truth from someone who's close to you?
Spencer: [all pointing at Aria] Her.
Aria: Wow, really? Thanks, guys. Okay, Mona, what's my lie?

Hanna: [after watching video, still insists:] It's not Lucas.
Spencer: Hanna, he just threw you under a bus.
Hanna: I don't care.
Spencer: Shall we rewind it to see him back it over you?

Spencer: A likes throwing cars at people.
Aria: Is there any chance this really was an accident?
[gets harsh look from Spencer]
Aria: Yeah, that's what I thought.
[takes sip from her coffee mug]

Spencer: [re Ezra being unlikely murder suspect] It's not.
[shakes her head]
Spencer: It's not a giant leap. In fact, I think I told Ezra how to do it.

Hanna: Do you think that Caleb still has that video file somewhere?
[the other girls all feign ignorance]
Hanna: Because A thinks he does.
Aria: [shakes her head] What are you talking about?
Hanna: I got a text saying to call off my techno boy-toy.
Spencer: A maybe just got their wires crossed.
Aria: Yeah. Maybe they're, like, a step behind or something.
Hanna: Since when is A ever a step behind?

Spencer: [re Toby] If he loved me, he would not have let me sit outside his loft bawling my eyes out for hours. Okay? He wouldn't have taken everything out of A's lair when he knew I had the key. He wouldn't be trying to hurt me... Us!

Spencer: [to Emily, as they peek at Shana] Have you heard from her since? Can we trust her now?
Emily: If Ali does, I guess that means that we should try.
Hanna: No, Shana has too many faces to trust. I've been keeping count and running out of fingers.
Aria: We all got a finger you can use. It's not the nice kind.

Spencer: [to her Dad] You have been lying to me for my entire life, literally, from day one!

Spencer: [Garrett has unexpectedly shown up at Rosewood High] What's going on? Why are you here?
Officer: Uh, it's my turn to teach the driver's ed class. Hoping I can scare kids into watching the road instead of their cell phones.

Hanna: Spence. Did you show your sister the mask yet?
Aria: Morning, Hanna.
Hanna: Hi.
[to: ]
Hanna: Did you?
Spencer: Not yet.
Hanna: What are you waiting for? We can't just let her get away with it because she's your sister, Spencer.
Spencer: Whoa!
Aria: Take it down a notch.
Spencer: That mask puts Melissa at the studio. Right now, that's all it does.
Hanna: She's leaving town, and she's about to pin it on my Mom before she goes.
Aria: If she's A...

Hanna: So, how many houses did you build?
Emily: Uh, I think we finished about six.
Hanna: And in poor countries, one house is like a home for fifty.
[chuckles]
Spencer: Okay, Miss Productive. How much of your list did you actually do?
Hanna: Let's see.
[consults notebook]
Hanna: Cooking class with Caleb. Done. Volunteered at the animal shelter for pocket dogs.
Spencer: Wait! That exists?
Hanna: Did not. Do. Expand my vocabulary.
[shows: ]
Hanna: "Effectuating."
Aria: Ooh.
Hanna: Intern for Vera Wang...
Emily: You got an internship for Vera Wang?
Hanna: Yeah, I changed my mind. Turns out they want you to work for free.

Hanna: [shakes her head] I should be the one in jail, not my Mom.
Aria: Hanna, you didn't do anything wrong.
Spencer: Yeah, somebody killed Wilden, and A is taking advantage of that. It's not your fault.
Hanna: My Mom went out there to protect me. How is this not my fault?
[her cell-phone rings]
Hanna: It's Caleb. I can't talk to him right now.
Spencer: Hanna, my Mom is a really great lawyer.
Hanna: Well, then, why isn't my Mom out?
Spencer: Because it's just one hearing. She'll win the case. She always does.
Hanna: Always?
Aria: [sighs] Okay, so do you wanna... go to school? Or not go?
Hanna: No. You guys go, I'll be okay.
Spencer: Are you sure?
Hanna: I have to see my Dad. If my Mom doesn't come back, then... I have to move in with him and the gruesome twosome.
[scoffs]
Hanna: You guys go, just... I'll be fine.

Hanna: Did we just walk inside 'A's brain?
Spencer: Yeah Hanna, I think we did.

Spencer: Careful, Aria. Take too much and you'll tell us all your secrets.
Alison: Friends share secrets. That's what keeps us close.

Spencer: Mona came to see me at Radley, and when I found Toby in the woods,
[shakes her head]
Spencer: she planned the whole thing. She wanted to break me, so that she could put me back together like her own Humpty Dumpty.
Aria: So Mona made you an offer you couldn't refuse?
Spencer: She told me that Toby was still alive.
Emily: [gasp of relief] Toby's alive?

Mona: [yelling] Spencer!
Spencer: How do you not strangle her?
[is about to go confront]
Aria: [sees a hair out of place] Oh.
[gives Spencer a squirt of hair-spray, which adds to her annoyance]

Spencer: [stressed out] I can't sleep... okay? My mind won't shut off. I just... I just wanna quiet the noise. I need to quiet the noise.

Spencer: How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.
Emily: Wow. What brilliant scholar said that?
Spencer: Winnie the Pooh.
[everybody laughs]

Spencer: Mom, I work on Capitol Hill. I know all of the traps. But you're running on a platform based on transparency... and integrity. Do not set yourself up to be blindsided once you get into the office. You know, you were the one who taught me that courage is all about having grace under fire.
[shakes her head]
Spencer: I mean, it doesn't really get hotter than this.
[chuckles]
Veronica: You're right. Thank you for reminding me why I did this.
Spencer: Mom, you're gonna make a great senator.
Veronica: No. I meant why I had kids. You get the chance to make people better than yourself.
[they hug]
Veronica: I love you.

Emily: [tracking Rhys] What is this place?
Spencer: Another real estate investment for the Carissimi group?
Hanna: Or another dollhouse for Charles. There's plenty of room to lock us up.
Emily: What do we do? Do we follow him?
Hanna: [shakes her head] There's no way I'm going in there.
Spencer: No, let's just hang tight. See what he does.

Spencer: [as Aria arrives] Okay... Hanna, we're all here. What's the emergency?
Hanna: I had a nightmare that Caleb was run over by a car, but... he's okay. And then Grunwald showed up, and told me he's not okay, and then Noel Kahn showed up, and made Grunwald's head explode.
Aria: To be fair, that does sound like an emergency.
Spencer: Okay, can you... go over that again... more slowly? And what exactly are you saying?
Hanna: That Noel Kahn is A.D.
[Spencer and Aria do not look convinced]
Hanna: You guys, I told you last night, he stole Mary Drake's file, he hurt Yvonne, he called Dr. Cochran.
Aria: Wait. We weren't even together last night.
Hanna: No, we were in my dream. Catch up! You guys, he burned us out of the storm cellar and wrote on that window. He peobably killed Sara, and we know he's bad because way back when, he pushed that sorority girl down the stairs.
Emily: Hanna, what about Sara telling me "We're looking for the same thing you are"? I mean, she and Jenna were working with Noel.
Hanna: To find Charlotte's killer. And that still leaves room for Noel Kahn to be A.D.
Spencer: And what about the storm cellar?
Hanna: He's the only one who would write "I see you."
Spencer: Maybe...
Hanna: No, you guys...!
Emily: What about Caleb? How's he doing on breaking the code in the files?
Hanna: Not good. But... what does that matter, anyways? You guys are never gonna realize that Noel is the one behind everything.
Emily: Never say never.
Hanna: Oh, thanks, Pam.
Emily: Hey!
Hanna: What else is there to look into? Nothing! We're at a dead end.

Spencer: There are forty-two clubs at Rosewood High. Mona could've picked any one of them. She's baiting me. And the only way to stop her, is to beat her fair and square.

Spencer: [after reading A's e-mail to Hanna] Is she threatening to cut your face off?
Emily: Or throw acid at her.
Hanna: [uncomfortably] You guys, come on.
Emily: Should we give this key to the cops? There's a numerical code on it, maybe they could trace it.
Spencer: Yeah, even if they could trace it, you ready to talk about Mona 2.0? That's what we'd have to do if we turned it in.
Emily: Yeah, well, for all we know, it's not just Mona and her minions. Maybe she's built this whole A army. And we still don't know what her end game is.
Hanna: I do. It's to cut my face off.
Spencer: I get it. I hear you guys. But she's still got all those pictures of us at Ali's grave.
Hanna: You know what? I don't care anymore.
[shakes her head]
Hanna: She has to be stopped.

Andrew: Nice room. Lot of ribbons.
[Spencer snickers]
Andrew: Jumping. Dressage. All these medals from riding?
Spencer: Yeah. I got everything in here but the horse. Hey, uh, how many hours would you say you studied for this? In a row?
Andrew: I don't know, like, seven? So, you're gonna need to know a lot about Newton for this.
Spencer: Andrew.
[clears throat]
Spencer: I didn't...
[closes door]
Spencer: ask you here... to study, Andrew.
Andrew: You didn't?
Spencer: I've been watching you.
[folds arms]
Andrew: You have?
Spencer: You're the captain of the decathlon team, you're a starting forward, and summa cum laude. It's time to share, Andrew.
Andrew: Okay.
Spencer: I'm just... I'm not interested in your notes, okay? I want some of your... study aid. You know, the kind with the childproof cap. I need to stay up... for a while.
Andrew: [shakes his head] I don't have any of that.

Spencer: I don't understand. How could she just disappear like that?
Emily: She didn't disappear. You scared her away. I can't believe you followed me here.
Spencer: I thought you were putting yourself in danger.
Emily: Yeah, well, you thought wrong!
Spencer: I know. I'm sorry.
[looks down]
Emily: You're gonna have to work harder than that.
[shakes her head]
Emily: I betrayed Alison. She's never gonna reach out to me again.
Spencer: [realizes] She's still playing games with us.
Emily: [shaking her head] What are you talking about?
Spencer: Ali sucked you back in! She knew that you were pulling away and that's why she picked you. She wanted you to feel special so you wouldn't give up on her.
Emily: That's sick!
Spencer: No, it's brilliant!
Emily: It wasn't like that... okay? She was different tonight. She was sincere.
Spencer: She can trust you, but she's not sure about the rest of us? Don't you get it? She's... she's trying to divide us.
Emily: She wouldn't do that!
Spencer: Wouldn't she?
Emily: [realizes] Wait! You were listening? This whole time?
Spencer: We can't let her come between us.
Emily: I figure you're doing a really good job of that all on your own.
Spencer: I'm sorry...
[reaches out]
Emily: Don't!

Hanna: Why am I beeping? I haven't even stolen anything yet! Spencer, say something! Why are we, like, radioactive?
Spencer: Bitch chipped us!

Aria: [after finding a newspaper article about their families] They don't know where we are. They don't even know if we're alive. Can you imagine what they must be going through?
Spencer: It plays on a loop in my head. Day after day. Night after night.
Aria: [to A through the surveillance cameras] I will kill you for what you're doing to our families! Do you hear me?

Alex: I made good on my promise to Wren that night. And when the game was over, I went back to London. But, I just...
[shakes her head]
Alex: I couldn't stop thinking about you. About how good you have it. About how much your friends love you. And it was driving me mad and... Wren saw it happening.

Spencer: Thank you. For not judging me.
Caleb: [snickers softly] I just wish you hadn't judged yourself.
Spencer: There's, um... something else... that I've been judging myself for.
[he takes her hand lightly in his...]

Alison: Is it just me, or was sixth grade the best year ever?
Spencer: I didn't even know you back then.
Alison: Oh, honey, you didn't even know me when you knew me.

Spencer: [to Aria] You're small, but you are mighty.

Toby: [dance continues] Did you write about your friends?
Spencer: I wrote about what I thought it meant to support someone unconditionally, even when they haven't been entirely honest with you. And how everybody needs somebody to be inspired by. Somebody who sets the bar really high. Somebody who'll put someone else's needs before their own. And not resent them for it. Somebody who always expects you to do the right thing. But then forgives you when you don't.
Toby: Well... I think your mother will be pretty moved by that.
Spencer: Yeah, she might be. But I wrote it about you.

Spencer: [inside burnt-out lodge] What if it was Ali? And what if she brought us here because... she's ready to come home?
Toby: She pulls everybody out and then takes off? Because she knows it isn't safe?
Spencer: It's possible.
Toby: Well, yeah, if you're not taking into account that she died two years ago.
[nods]
Toby: Sure, it's possible.
Spencer: [floorboards creak] Toby? I don't think we're in here alone!

Spencer: [on cellphone, to Marco Furey] If I had that thumb drive, that would mean that I was in your apartment. Alone with you. At night. I wonder if people would think that was strange?

Emily: Can we stop talking about Shana for a minute? We need to concentrate on Hanna.
Spencer: Yeah, you're right.
Aria: [entering kitchen with plate of food Hanna rejected] Good. You two are talking. Now, if we could only get Hanna to eat.
Spencer: We could order those mozzarella sticks from The Brew. She loves those.
Emily: The Brew can't deliver the one thing she really wants... her Mom.
Aria: This stuff's getting rock-hard.
[going to throw it away]
Spencer: No, don't throw it out. Maybe Hanna's Dad will eat it when he gets back.
Emily: Or we can use it to chisel Mrs. Marin out of jail.
Aria: Hmm, I don't think that will go down so well with her arraignment. Hey, what's going on with that anyway? Has Hanna said anything?
Emily: Only that her Dad won't take her to any of the meetings with the legal team.
Spencer: Well, I'll see what I can find out. Look, it's getting late. Why don't you two head home? And I'll see that Hanna gets something to eat before her Dad gets back. It's time to bust out the big guns... Cake frosting and a spoon.
Aria: I'm... good to stay.
Emily: Me too. The only way we're gonna get Hanna through this is together.
[they all join hands]
Spencer: So where is she anyway?

Aria: What if Hector realizes Melissa's mask is missing?
Hanna: That guy has so many heads, he'll never miss one.
Spencer: I think I have to write that sentence down.

Spencer: Caleb doesn't know that I'm here.
Toby: If you're gonna try and get me...
Spencer: He didn't do it. Okay? He didn't leak it. He's just taking the blame.
Toby: Why?
Spencer: Because A is back.
[as: ]
Spencer: Not A exactly, uh, just some copycat version.
Toby: [softly:] What?
Spencer: Whoever this is, thinks that we know who killed Charlotte, and so they're trying to make our lives miserable because of it. And I'm really sorry, but Yvonne was just collateral damage. And Caleb didn't want to tell you, because he didn't wanna put you at risk.
Toby: [nods] Thank you for telling me.
[as: ]
Toby: How are you? Are you okay?
Spencer: Yeah, I'm okay. I just, um... I really couldn't have you thinking that I would ever judge Yvonne... for making that choice... Not after... you and I... almost had to make that choice.

Toby: I'm starving. Let's grab something to eat.
Spencer: I'm not hungry. I mean, I have a large pit in my stomach, but I'm not hungry.
Toby: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You definitely need to eat something. I'm not driving back to Rosewood with low-blood-sugar Spencer. That's worse than no-caffeine Spencer.
Spencer: Wow. Your girlfriend sounds awesome.

Emily: [drunk] Was that tree always here?
Spencer: [gives Emily's car keys to Hanna] Here, take these, she's not driving.
Hanna: No, I'm not taking her home. If her Mom finds out it was my flask, I'll be feeding the bears... with Maya.

Spencer: Hanna, you have to go back to Radley.
Hanna: What?
Spencer: You need to make Mona talk.
Aria: Spencer's right. Mona has never been working alone, and she's probably still giving people orders.
Emily: Find out who else has seen her.
Hanna: You know what? You guys just ripped me a new one for visiting her last week, and now you want me to go back there with cupcakes?

Spencer: [re e-mail to group that also lost a friend] What did you say? "We think your friend's in our friend's grave?"
Hanna: Yeah, Spencer, that's exactly what I said. Duh. No, I just said that... we have some things in common, and we should talk. It could be like a support group thing.
Spencer: Wow. Yeah. Hanna, you're two-for-two.

Emily: Are you sure you wanna do this?
Alison: Ezra just saved my life. And he probably saved yours too.
[as: ]
Alison: Hanna's right. There's no way my Mom made that jump. She's not A, but Ezra knows who he is.
Aria: Look, Em, the plan was we get Ali out of town, but now that we know that A's after Ezra...
Emily: I get that A wants to shut Ezra up, okay? But Ali's still a target. Can't we think of another way to do this?
Aria: If Ezra...
[decides: ]
Aria: When Ezra pulls through all this, he's gonna tell us who A is, and this thing is finally gonna be over.
Hanna: [on phone, to police] Hi. The guy who just got shot at Lincoln and Hudson is Ezra Fitz. Yeah, I think you should send a cop there, because I saw what happened, and I don't think this is a random thing. Well, yeah, but he might not be safe, so you'd better go fast.
[ends call]
Aria: Are they sending somebody?
Hanna: Yeah, I heard her typing.
[as: ]
Hanna: Look, they're probably on their way.
Emily: Are you sure that we wanna split up?
Spencer: [quoting] A wise commander takes measures to always let his opponent react to the wrong set of circumstances, and in 400 BC...
Hanna: Okay, okay, Spencer, we get it. We're decoys. We don't need a history lesson.
Alison: There's no art to this war, Spencer.
Spencer: You've read Sun Tzu?
Aria: Okay, let's go.
Hanna: Wait.
[hands over pistol to Aria]
Hanna: Just in case.
Emily: We'll give you ten minutes, okay? Then we're making the call.

[first lines]
newscaster: Authorities have named Charles DiLaurentis as a lead suspect in the kidnapping of five Rosewood teens, as well as a sixth victim from Courtland. Both state and local police remain tight-lipped...
Spencer: Hey, did, um, Ali turn in those home movies to the cops? The ones that Charles left at her house?
Emily: Yeah, I think so. Why?
Spencer: Maybe they could do one of those age progression sketches. We could finally put a face to the name.
Hanna: Yeah, and maybe someone could put a fist in that face.
Aria: [entering, along with Alison, carrying mugs of coffee] Well, we are officially out of beans. What did we miss?
Spencer: Toby says that the Highway Patrol is putting up checkpoints at all the state borders.
Aria: Did he say anything else after he accidentally ate half of your stash?
Spencer: He's texting me. That's a win.
Aria: Hey, guys...
[turns up volume of TV news]
newscaster: ...inside sources speculate that the former Radley patient could be responsible for the death of his mother, Jessica DiLaurentis. One of the first responding officers on the scene suffered minor injuries in pursuit of the suspect.
Aria: [to Alison] Do you know about this?
Alison: No.
Aria: You should probably ask your Dad.
Hanna: Yeah, like he'd give a straight answer.
[Alison gives her a sharp look]
Emily: Okay, well, if it's true, it's awful. Ali's Mom was practically the only person who visited him, who even knew that Charles existed.
Hanna: And he used her to fertilize Spencer's petunias.
Spencer: [annoyed] My Mom grows azaleas.
Hanna: Whatever. Charles is vicious. We all know that. And now everyone else knows it, too.
Alison: [frowns at Hanna's insensitivity] We had birthday cake. That day at the arcade when Jason and I met him. Charles gave me his frosting. How does that change into vicious?
Aria: We're probably done watching this, right?
[switches off TV set with remote]
Aria: Do you remember anything else?
Alison: He cried when it was time to leave. Said it was the best birthday he ever had. The person they're describing on the news, I mean, I don't even know who that is.
Hanna: You played skeeball... once. I wouldn't call that family bonding.
Emily: Hanna!
Spencer: [to distraught Alison] I... think what Hanna is trying to say is that it's hard for us to imagine that A is actually your brother.
Hanna: No, what's hard to imagine is that you feel even the slightest bit of pity for Charles.
Aria: Little harsh, Han.
Hanna: He had been out for blood, for all of us. And he's come way too close, more than once.
Spencer: We hear you, but it's unfair to Ali right now.
Hanna: Why are you trying to shut me up, Spencer? I'm just saying what you guys are thinking! If you guys are too scared to be honest, then fine. I will do it for you. I'm sorry, Alison, I know this must really suck for you, but I'm not gonna sit here and help you give A the benefit of the doubt. I hope the police catch him, because there's nothing they can do to him that's worse than what he did to us.
[stands up, storms out]

Spencer: Do you have a burner phone?
Caleb: What color?

Aria: He's obsessed. He's convinced that he's ruined Maggie's life.
Spencer: Well, why is he still thinking about his high school girlfriend?
Aria: [sighs] Probably because I pushed him to. God, I just... I just wish that there was a way... that I could get in touch with her.
Spencer: That is a terrible idea.
Aria: No, no, no... I just want...
Spencer: That is such a terrible idea. Stay out of it, it is none of your business.
Aria: It is my relationship, Spencer. I'm sorry, it's just we can't move forward until he does.

Hanna: [to Aria] Your brother deserves way better than Mona.
Spencer: Boys hate it when you question their judgment.
Aria: If I tell Mike that Mona isn't what he's looking for...
Emily: ...You won't be able to separate them with a crowbar.
Spencer: Colorful. And... graphic. But colorful.

Hanna: [opening her bedroom door] Hey.
Spencer: [entering] I got your SOS. What's wrong?
Hanna: [sighs] Please tell me you know how to hack into computers.
Spencer: Uh... no. That's what Caleb was for.
Hanna: Well, Caleb is at the police station right now, cooperating with this whole investigation. Unless we figure how to hack into his hard drive and delete all the files A planted, he's screwed.
Spencer: Uh... okay.
[going to try]
Spencer: Do you know his password?
Hanna: [sighs] I did.

Wren: As much as I hate to do this, I have to ask you a direct question. Do you want to agree that certain things between us never happened?
Spencer: No.
[shakes her head]
Spencer: I wouldn't take back anything.

Aria: What are they talking to the fire department about?
Emily: They're talking about that night.
Spencer: The Jenna thing.
Hanna: [frowns] Are you serious?
Aria: What could Toby be telling them?
Spencer: I did such a good job of screwing him up.
[shakes her head]
Spencer: He might say anything Jenna wants him to say.
Hanna: That we're the ones that blinded Jenna?
Emily: Alison and us.

Aria: Why would A pretend to be Ian and then... then lead us there to his body?
Spencer: Does it matter? This guy was scum, and now he's dead scum. Who cares if A found him first?
Emily: What does A want?
Hanna: You know what I want? I wanna enjoy my life again... before A finds another way to ruin it.

Alex: [as Spencer comes to, she meets her British-accent doppelganger] Oh, you missed breakfast, but Mum's planning a special lunch.
Spencer: I don't even know what question to ask first. Who are you?
Alex: [laughs] Really? How hard did Mona hit you? You want to know who I am? I'm just a girl who met a man who came in from the rain.

Hanna: [to Spencer] What about all that crazy stuff Garrett told you?
Emily: What crazy stuff?
Spencer: Garrett said that he saw Aria's dad with Ali the night that she was killed. We have to find her.
Emily: And we believe him?
Spencer: Why would he lie to us now?
Hanna: To mess with us! Everybody's messing with us. You can get a varsity letter messing with us!

Emily: Last week, Hanna saw Paige with another girl. She assumed the worst. She thought that Paige was seeing someone else. She wasn't. I talked to her, and she was trying to help us figure out who bought that Queen of Hearts costume at Halloween. That girl that Hanna was so worried about, works at a costume shop.
[smiles: ]
Emily: She was a flirt. Not a threat.
[shakes her head]
Spencer: Did she find out... who bought it?
Emily: Not yet. But the point is, sometimes things look bad, when they're really not. Sometimes there's another explanation for what's going on.
Spencer: And what if that explanation is even worse?

Aria: Turn the volume up.
Emily: Can you make the view full-screen?
Spencer: Maybe make it lighter? The picture seems really dark.
Caleb: [trying to decipher encrypted data] All right, that's it. I've officially stopped taking requests. Can you guys, like, back up a little bit?
Spencer: We're not even standing that close to you.
Caleb: Oh, really? Then how do I know you had a cheeseburger for lunch?

Emily: Hey. How are you feeling?
Spencer: Nauseous, achy, tired. Other than that, fantastic.

Spencer: [as Alison sleeps] Is it just me, or is it already feeling like she's shutting us out again?
Hanna: Shh.
Spencer: What?
Hanna: She can hear you.
Spencer: She's sleeping.
Hanna: She's Ali.

Aria: Ian's been watching us for years.
Spencer: And he killed Alison to make sure that nobody found out.
Emily: [distraught] I wish Ali would have told us about these videos.
Spencer: [gets up, disconnects flash drive] You guys, it is not too late to help her. We can use this to prove that Ian killed Alison.
Emily: How are we gonna do that?
Spencer: We start by finding out what Jenna knows.
Aria: Are you on something?
Hanna: No, Jenna's at the top of our A list.
Spencer: Look, I get it, okay? But she knows these videos existed. She was looking for them. That's why she hired Caleb to find that key.
Hanna: But, Spence, how are we ever supposed to believe anything that bitch says?
Emily: If that bitch is A, then this could be a trap.
Aria: But, you guys, Ian was watching all of us. And for all we know, he still is.
[Spencer looks out the window]
Aria: But Spencer's right. We have to try.
Spencer: We've been afraid of her since the Jenna thing. And now we finally have something that she wants. And Alison gave it to us.

Aria: [after pushing the cabinet away, they find hidden exit, and move through] Are we still in Pennsylvania?
Spencer: Yeah, we're behind The Radley someplace.
Aria: Well, this explains how Sara got in and out of her hotel room to mess with us.
Spencer: Why go to so much trouble just to sneak in and out of a hotel room?
Aria: Maybe sneaking's only part of it.
Spencer: You're still really good at this.
Aria: [smirks] I've had a lot of practice.

Emily: Look, I know things are a little rocky with you and Caleb, but you can't blame Hanna.
Spencer: [fuming] She kissed him, Em. Recently.

Spencer: Go away, before I start choking you again. Mona, I've got nothing left to lose. They already think that I'm crazy.
Mona: You're not crazy. You're as sane as I am.
[providing Spencer with an upsetting thought]

Mona: Why the grim faces? Did somebody die?
Hanna: Mona, we need your help.
Mona: What did she do to you?
Hanna: [sighs] Nothing. Yet.
Aria: It's what we think she's about to do.
Emily: We just found out that Ali's at the police station. She's talking to the cops.
Mona: And you don't know what she's telling them?
Spencer: A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.
Hanna: Did Ali say that?
Mona: No, Churchill did.

Spencer: [Hanna wears sweatshirt and pants] Are you coming from yoga?
Hanna: No. Home.
Spencer: Then why are you dressed like that?
Hanna: Because, Spencer, I'm too depressed to work a zipper, okay? Get over it!

Spencer: My sister in London is texting me. My mother's enlisting allies in the war over commencement.
Dean: You thinking of skipping it?
Spencer: No, it's, it's not about going, it's about speaking. Our principal asked me to stand up in front of the entire school and be the poster girl for trauma. I'm just...
[shakes her head]
Spencer: really not that into it.
Dean: Why are you so sure?
Spencer: Well, why else would he ask me to be valedictorian? I mean, I have 'incompletes' in every subject except lunch. And everybody expects me to stand up and give some really moving speech about being a survivor, and I'm not ready to talk about it as if it's over when it's not
[shakes her head]
Spencer: over.
[sighs]
Dean: So don't do it.
Spencer: What?
Dean: Just say no. Uh, considering everything you went through, I think walking across that stage and accepting a diploma is a pretty impressive accomplishment.

Mona: Lesli just texted me. She feels she made a lot of progress in her stability and she thinks that this sort of confrontation might set her back.
Spencer: Unbelievable!
Hanna: Tell her to get her ass over here. I'll show her confrontation!
Aria: [grabs car keys] Come on, field trip. Lesli knows who Charles is, and you know where that bitch lives. Let's go!
Mona: No one's going anywhere. Lesli isn't lying. That girl is one lost marble away from a nervous breakdown. Look, I, I swear, Lesli doesn't know anything else. If she did, she would tell me, and I would tell you.
Spencer: The night that Bethany and Charles escaped from Radley, you were with Alison. Ali told us. You picked her up on the side of the road. You took her to the Lost Woods. So, maybe you saw somebody. Some guy who could've been Charles.
Mona: I wish that I did, but no, I didn't see anybody else.
Aria: What about at Radley? Someone you talked to stole the A game from you while you were there. That is what you said.
Mona: I know I did. But I was on so many drugs, I didn't know who I was talking to. I mean, half the time I thought I was being haunted by Ali. And the other half of the time, I thought I was auditioning for American Idol.

Spencer: [holds up cell-phone picture of hospitalized Ali] She says that it was an accident.
Emily: Do we believe that?
Hanna: As much as I believe Aria being seared was an accident.
Aria: What do you think, Spencer?
Spencer: At two out of five in the ER, that's 40%. It"s 60% if you count what happened to Emily's eggs.
Hanna: Well, the odds aren't going to get any better the closer we get to election night.
Emily: Three days.
Hanna: Hey, so, Ali's hospital is an hour away. I think I'm gonna go check up on her.
Aria: She says she'll be back tomorrow.
Emily: Maybe she should think about going in the opposite direction.
Spencer: Yeah, check on her, but don't freak her out. And it might be best if she stays away until after the election.
Aria: What do we do about Mona?
Spencer: Keep a close eye on her.
Hanna: You guys, Mona did not kill Charlotte. She couldn't.
Aria: She's got as much motive as anybody, probably more.
Emily: She admits to getting Charlotte out of her house. I mean, she's telling the truth. Not all of it.
Spencer: Mona's changed so many times, I doubt she even knows herself when she looks in the mirror.
Hanna: Okay, who around here hasn't tried to reinvent themselves a couple of times?
[rises]
Hanna: I'll call you after I go see Ali.
[leaves]

Emily: So what? Alison lied more than she breathes. You think that was enough to make Ian wanna permanently shut her up?
Spencer: Wow, I thought you'd be happy to hear that it was anybody but Toby.
Emily: All Toby wanted was for me to believe him... and I didn't.
Spencer: Toby lied about a lot of things too, Em.
Emily: If lying was a crime, we would all be in jail.

Spencer: Oh, my God! Oh, my God, it's a head!
Alison: It's a real head!

Aria: [they found a feather in Melissa's closet] It matches the one Hanna found at the masquerade ball.
Hanna: You know what they say: "If the feather fits..."
Aria: Hanna, it's "the shoe". "If the shoe fits."
Hanna: Whatever. Melissa's A.
Spencer: I know that she looks suspicious, okay? But we're still just guessing.
Hanna: Well, it's a guess I'm willing to take.
Aria: Me too.

Spencer: You guys, my sister is not A.
[stammers]
Spencer: I watched her fall apart when we found Ian's body. She had no idea that he was dead. She wouldn't just text herself from her dead husband's phone and then lose it like that. Can we... can we please just... breathe... for a second?
Hanna: No. We have video of four people who could have killed Alison. Okay, they were in her bedroom the night she died. Can't we get in trouble for withdrawing evidence?
Aria: I think you mean 'withholding'. Look, Spencer's right.
[Spencer nods]
Aria: We've jumped the gun before and we've gone to the cops.
Emily: And we ended up looking guilty.

Spencer: Toby, this might be my last Christmas.

Garrett: It's not safe to talk in the car.
Hanna: Well, it doesn't really feel safe out here either.
Garrett: Look, I'm sorry I scared you. There's some things you guys need to know before you start answering questions.
Spencer: We're listening.
Garrett: All right. The police cannot know that you were blackmailing Ian and I was helping you. That's a serious crime.
Aria: Well, what about the messenger?
Garrett: He doesn't want any trouble.
Hanna: What about the money?
Garrett: For now, I'm hiding it.
Spencer: What about the videos?
Garrett: Do you still have them?
Spencer: [glances at Emily, who nods] Yeah, we made a copy.
Garrett: Okay, look, I could never ask you guys how you got them, and I don't wanna know. But you better be prepared to tell the police how you did, because that's... that's the first question they're gonna ask you.
voice: Officer Reynolds, what's your ETA?
Garrett: Uh, yeah, we're en route.
voice: Roger that.
Garrett: [to the girls] I hate asking you to lie like this, but are we all clear?
Spencer: [nods] We'll keep the videos a secret.
Hanna: For now.
Garrett: Okay, good. Let's get back.
Emily: [as Garrett herds them back towards the patrol car] I'm sorry we got you into this.
Garrett: No, we'll be okay. We just need to stick to our story, yeah?

Hanna: [re her mother] I could have climbed through a window and she would have found me
Emily: Hey, she gave us a room to hang out in until we can go back to our homes.
Hanna: Yeah, I know. Who ever thought I'd feel bad about getting a free suite. The world's upside down.
Spencer: Speaking of which, I got us all these until we get our real phones back.
[hands over outdated old cellphones]
Hanna: This makes me really wanna go to jail.
Alison: What are we doing to stay out of jail?
Hanna: Has anyone heard from Aria?
Spencer: No. Because she doesn't have one of these.
Emily: Okay, guys, I know we all woke up early and we're cranky, but let's stay focused. I'm as freaked out as the rest of you. Maybe even more, considering it looks like A.D. was watching Ali and me sleep last night.
[has everybody's attention]
Hanna: So, are you two...?
[both lovers blush]
Hanna: Well. About time.

Spencer: [empty beer can fell out of her friend's locker] Are you collecting that for recycling? Hanna! What is going on with you?
Hanna: What are you talking about?
Spencer: Yesterday your blouse was on inside out and today your locker smells like Oktoberfest.
Hanna: What are you, the hall monitor?
Spencer: No, we're your friends, and we're a little bit concerned.
Hanna: Well, this can isn't even mine. Caleb must have put it in my bag.
[gets a look from Spencer]
Hanna: Don't. I already have one friend throwing me shade.
Emily: Will you apologize to her?
Hanna: I left her a message.
Spencer: Yeah. We've heard it. And it sounded like you were underwater and Caleb was laughing in the background.
Hanna: He was watching a guy eat his own beard on YouTube.

Hanna: Ugh, my brain is numb from all those cop questions.
Spencer: I don't think I'd be here if it wasn't for A.
Aria: A killed Ian to keep you here.
Hanna: I'm sorry, but that is not a comforting thought.
Emily: A gives so she can take. We know that.
Hanna: So what is the bitch gonna ask for?
Spencer: Whatever it is, I don't think we can afford it.
Aria: Spence, I mean, you didn't... you didn't see anything?
Spencer: I saw... a black hoodie, black boots and gloves.
Aria: Well, I think it's safe to say that A's not Jenna.
Hanna: Are we sure?
Spencer: A sees everything, Hanna.
Emily: I'm starting to think we should tell someone about her. Him. Uh, it. What's the worst thing that can happen?
Aria: What?
Spencer: A knows all of our secrets.
Hanna: Yeah, if people find out, we'll always be those girls who blinded Jenna Marshall.
[shakes her head]
Emily: And now we're those girls who are afraid of A.
Aria: No, Em. I mean, you're right, but... Look, we have so much to lose.
Hanna: Ugh, I feel like I have a hangover and never even went to the party.
Aria: We need caffeine.
[Spencer's going to get up]
Aria: Oh. No offense, but can I make it?
Spencer: [frowning] Seriously?
Emily: [gets a move on as well] I'm with Aria.
[smiles]
Hanna: Yeah. Sorry, Spence, but your coffee gives me the shakes.
[gets up, follows the other two]
Spencer: [left behind] Amateurs.
[tosses her pillow, goes after the other girls]

Spencer: [to Dr. Sullivan] Somebody's... been trying to hurt us. For a long time.

Spencer: Well, I'm not giving up. I don't think that anklet proves anything. He is guilty.
Toby: And you're sure of this?
Spencer: Why are you challenging me?
Toby: Because there was a time when you thought that I murdered Alison. Remember?

Hanna: It's unbelievable. Ali's in the penalty box, but she's still playing offensive.
Toby: Maybe this is just her being iced out. Getting desperate. But if you actually think there's somebody on the outside helping her...
Hanna: Yeah, totally! There was a fireworks display.
Emily: But maybe she planned that before she was arrested.
Spencer: No way. Someone is helping her.
Aria: What do you mean "someone"? I saw Alison and Holbrook under the mistletoe, and he had his tongue down her throat. It's him!
Hanna: We don't know that for sure. Didn't Tanner say that he was assigned to a case in Pittsburgh?
Toby: He's off it. He had to take a personal leave to take care of his sick dad.
Emily: That's convenient.
Hanna: [to Toby] Can you see if Holbrook's visiting Ali in prison?
Spencer: No, guys, he can't. Why should he be the one who gets thrown headfirst into the lion's den?

Spencer: [planning what they're going to tell other people] Okay. We got up here yesterday afternoon. We roasted some marshmallows... and we talked about how much fun senior year is gonna be, and... we went to bed early.
Hanna: Em?
Emily: I understand.
[sighs]
Emily: Last night never happened.

Hanna: God, that bitch has nine lives!
Spencer: [to the gang] We need to get out of here. Now! I have to show you something. Come on.
[they hesitate]
Spencer: Come on!
[leads way]

Spencer: So he's here on an errand from Ali? I mean, is it just me, or is she even scarier behind bars?

Aria: Ali?
Spencer: She's gone.
Aria: What do you mean she's gone?
Spencer: I've looked everywhere for her. I think I heard her scream.

Melissa: You asked me a question once.
Spencer: Hmm?
Melissa: If it came down to protecting you, or protecting somebody else, somebody I loved, who would I pick? Do you remember?
Spencer: [nods] Yeah, I do.
Melissa: What would your answer be... if I asked you the same question? If you had to choose, what would you do?

Hanna: I hate her.
Spencer: Why?
Hanna: Because! She flirts with everyone but me.
Emily: Shana's bad news. Wherever she goes, trouble follows.

Aria: Don't even bring up that singing canary!
Spencer: [correcting] Parrot.
Aria: Whatever. We don't have the bird or the beast. Now that Melissa's gone, we have very little to go on.

Hanna: [awakens, the door is open] Mona's gone!
Spencer: [only half-awake] Hmm?
[sits up]
Spencer: I don't remember falling asleep.
Aria: Did she drug us?
Emily: Wouldn't be the first time.
Hanna: You guys, she still has that chip!

Lieutenant: [Interrogation] There's quite a lot of Radley Hotel video from the night Mr. Dunhill disappeared. Did you know that they even have a camera in the elevator?
Spencer: We get it. There's lots of evidence. And there's probably more to come, but the question is, why are you telling us this?
Lieutenant: I thought it was obvious. I am giving you a chance to tell your side of the story before my side becomes the only side.
Spencer: You were the one who rescued us five years ago.
Lieutenant: That's because you wouldn't tell me the truth and you ended up in an underground bunker. So, why don't you let me help you now?
Spencer: Are we done here?
Lieutenant: [nods] For now. Hmm-mm.

Spencer: Church?
Melissa: We're planning the christening.
Spencer: Isn't that a little premature? What if it's not born a human?
Melissa: That's not funny.
Spencer: Well, humor's subjective.
Melissa: No, I know how you feel about Ian, but I honestly thought you'd be happy about this baby.
[goes off]
Veronica: That was cruel.
Spencer: I'm sorry.
Veronica: Well, it doesn't help to tell me that.

Toby: [Spencer in doorway] Did you talk to your Dad about Radley?
Spencer: Yeah, I did.
[he notices her baggage]
Spencer: Mind if I stay here for a while?

Spencer: [after Emily's ordeal on the massage table] Would you like to take a shower?
Emily: No, I think five is enough.

Andrew: [secretary] Oh, first things first. We have to welcome a new member. Mona Vanderwaal will be joining us.
Spencer: Wait, what?
Andrew: Word came down from the faculty advisor this afternoon. Joining in school activities is part of her recovery.
[the other two girls share knowing looks]
Andrew: I guess she has a note from her doctor.
[Spencer: ]
Andrew: You guys have history. That's rough.
Spencer: [softly] Yeah, if you're downplaying it.

Spencer: [secret corridor] Buildings have secrets too. Just like people.
Aria: So, the hotel doesn't know that this exists?
Spencer: I'll bet it's not on any of the blueprints.
Aria: But Sara knew.
Spencer: Yeah. How do you suppose that happened?
Aria: Long quiet chats with Charlotte?
Spencer: Mm-hmm. Come on, let's go back the way we came.
Aria: Spencer, the file cabinet...!
Spencer: What about it?
Aria: No dust.

Spencer: What if I really am crazy?
Eddie: You're not crazy.

Hanna: You guys, I don't wanna give anyone any of my blood. I need all I got.
Spencer: My Mom's handling it.

Hanna: Let's face this. We blinded Jenna, we killed her girlfriend, she's back to punish us for it.
Spencer: Said with absolutely no tact, but you're right.

Emily: How long can a person last without food?
Mona: Three weeks.
Spencer: Water's a different story. Some people can only go a few days without it.
Mona: You know you're dying when you're not hungry or thirsty anymore. It means your organs are shutting down.
Aria: Mine are definitely working. Because I'm so thirsty I could seriously consider drinking my own pee.
Hanna: [chuckles along with Emily] I can totally suck on a pee ice cube right now.
Emily: I'd lick sweat off a jock strap.
Hanna: Okay, Emily, you win.
Aria: I don't know how much longer I can handle it.
Mona: You can handle it, Aria. We all can.

[Veronica and Spencer get a picture message from Melissa and Ian]
Spencer: Where are they? It looks like the mall near Dad's office.

Spencer: [his car stops in front of her house] Sure you don't wanna come in?
Dean: Pass. The last time I saw that gate, your mother was tossing my duffel bag through it... aiming for my head.
Spencer: [chuckles] Well, she's mellowed out a bit since that time.
Dean: I doubt it. If your family did mellow, I wouldn't be driving you home right now.
Spencer: Look, I haven't been to a meeting in a while. And it was just... for some reassurance.
Dean: I thought it was for the free food.
Spencer: I'm just really tired of living in a permanent state of anxiety. If a few bites of a cookie can help get me through my day and help me sleep...
Dean: Doesn't work like that. You can't rationalize. You're either in or you're out.
Spencer: I know, I know... But when you've been yanked out of one nightmare and then shoved into another...
Dean: You're right. All right, it sucks. But you're strong, Spencer, stronger than you think.
Spencer: Please... don't say that.
Dean: Why? Why don't you believe that?
[no answer]
Dean: I gave something to you a long time ago and you never used it.
[she looks at him questioningly]
Dean: My number. Maybe next time you can't sleep or...
Spencer: Thanks.
[sighs]
Spencer: Can you do me a favor?
Dean: Yeah.
Spencer: [hands over her bag of cookies] Could you throw that out?
Dean: Wow. You're the first girl to toss her cookies in my car.
Spencer: [chuckles, gets out] Thank you

Spencer: [plaintive] Help me, Toby-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.
[Toby has little sense of humor]
Spencer: I'm sorry. That was a terrible joke. I don't even know why...

Spencer: Well, you know the Hastings motto: "Why enjoy today when you could be worrying about tomorrow?"

Hanna: [in back of police truck] I didn't think I could feel worse after A killed Mona. But the four of us getting arrested for her murder brings low to a whole new level.
Spencer: Technically, they think that we're accessories, not killers.
Aria: An accessory is a necklace or a handbag, not a chain gang.
Hanna: Call it what you want. We're all going to jail. A wins.
Emily: Why do you think they're separating us from Ali?
Hanna: There's a lady in the laundry. If you do her work, she gives you information. Yesterday she told me that the warden received an anonymous tip. They think the five of us are plotting something big.
Spencer: What, and they think Ali's the Big Bad Wolf?
Aria: That make us the little pigs or Little Red?
Spencer: Doesn't matter. A wolf can't lead without her pack.
Hanna: When we get there, they're probably gonna split us up too.
Emily: What's it like, Han?
Hanna: Do you want me to sugarcoat it, or tell you the truth?
Emily: Well, if we're gonna get through it, I'm gonna need to know what to expect.
Hanna: The second they slam that door shut, you feel ashamed.
Aria: This is crazy. We didn't do anything.
Hanna: They don't care about that. They treat you like a criminal. And it's hard to remember that you're not one.
[sighs]
Hanna: The first night's the hardest. You're locked away from everything and everyone you ever cared about. And when they turn those lights out, it is the loneliest feeling you could ever imagine.
Emily: On second thought, I could have used a thick coat of sugar.
Hanna: You can't be ready for how it feels, Em. It's hard not to give up on hope.
Spencer: Hey, guys. They can take everything from us, but they can't take us from each other. I don't care how far apart from you guys I am, I will still be with you.
Aria: Me too.
Emily: Same here.
Hanna: I love you guys.
Aria: Love you.

Spencer: And you told this to Garrett?
Melissa: Ugh, I never should have opened up to him. I was just... venting, trying to sort through my feelings.
Spencer: [throws her head back] This is not good.
Melissa: Why?
Spencer: Melissa, we're not the only people who know about Jason. Dad might have been blackmailed.
Melissa: What? By who?
Spencer: Alison. Jason found cash, a lot of it. Ali was hiding it. And... and I asked Dad about it, the blackmail... and he told me he never paid Alison a cent.
Melissa: Do we believe that?

Aria: [as they fold up fashion show programs] Did you invite Caleb?
Hanna: [frowns] Why would I do that?
Spencer: Because you kissed him.
Emily: How was it?
Hanna: Well, I wore the total wrong lip gloss. You know, the kind that looks wet, but it's really sticky.
Emily: Ooh,
[makes sour face]
Emily: the wads of hair get stuck to your mouth.
Aria: Hmm, it's all fun and sexy till somebody hacks up a hairball.
Spencer: Hey, could we please keep folding? I needed these done yesterday, and I've already missed a million committee meetings.

Aria: [re Mona at bridal shower] Why is she here? I thought you two had it out at The Brew.
Emily: She brought a gift.
Spencer: Yeah, and an axe to grind.

Spencer: You're not like Melissa's usual boyfriends.
Wren: What's so unusual?
Spencer: I actually like you. That's what's unusual.

Toby: [in hospital] Spencer... Jenna wants to talk to you. All of you.
Spencer: [nods] Okay.
[on her way]
Toby: Are you all right?
Spencer: [little sigh] I think so.

Spencer: [on phone] Are you stealing her car?
Hanna: No, I am borrowing it. And don't get all preachy with me, Puff 'n' Stuff. I gotta go.

Aria: [entering restroom] Is everything okay?
[knocks on door of cubicle]
Aria: I know that you're in there.
Spencer: [sobbed] I'm fine.
Aria: Come on, open up the door. You're not the only one who could use a little "Team Sparia." Ezra's back.
[long silence]
Aria: Spencer, I know that you don't want a friend right now, but that doesn't mean that your friends don't need you.

[last lines]
Aria: Was someone waiting for Charlotte to get released so that they could kill her?
Spencer: Don't go there.
Hanna: Spencer, we lived there, for a long time. It's not like It's a long commute.
Emily: [they look up at the bell tower] I wanna go home.
Spencer: We are home.

Spencer: I've been so caught up in my own soap opera lately, I forgot I'm not the first person to have a complicated story about a birth mother... and a surrogate mother.
Detective: You don't have to drive yourself crazy choosing between the two. All you have to do is love the people who want the best for you.

Hanna: [staring at the countdown] Time is stupid.
Spencer: [sarcastic] That's my favorite thing that you've ever said.
Hanna: How is it that after everything we've gone through, one or all of us is about to go to jail?
Emily: This time around it is kind of special.
[softly: ]
Emily: I mean, we did kill a guy.
Hanna: Did anyone notice anything different about Mona this morning?
Alison: She's Mona. Different's in her job description.
Hanna: I guess.

Spencer: [re Toby] I know why he joined the police force. I encouraged him. He's the most honorable person I know. And it's like now this is tearing him apart. I'm tearing him apart.

Spencer: [brought confectionery] Cupcakes. Gluten free, dairy free, sugar free,
[winks]
Spencer: fat free. Technically, they might not actually exist.
Detective: If there is anything in that box, I'll be happy.
[Spencer chuckles]

Andrew: [Spencer shows up unexpectedly at Decathlon practice] Uh, hello.
Spencer: Hi.
Andrew: What are you doing here?
Spencer: Oh, Andrew. I didn't recognize you in clothes.
Andrew: [shaking his head] You know you can't be here.
Spencer: Relax, moose, I'm not here to see you.

Alex: I didn't know about you, I didn't know about Charlotte. I didn't even know about Mary Drake. At first I thought Wren was putting me on. But then he pulled out his phone, showed me a picture. I still don't know why... but I started to cry.
Spencer: So he just... ran into you? In a bar?
Alex: I was in shock. And I had a list of questions a mile long. It took Wren days to tell me everything he knew. But I've never felt so close to someone so fast. And he felt the same way. Melissa was already out of the picture. She was dating some composer. So he was fair game. Yeah, I guess you could say he has a type. You know, first her, then you, then her. Then me!
[Spencer looks down]
Alex: Yeah, it's a lot to process. Would you like a sedative?
Spencer: Is Wren a part of this? The threats, the torture, your twisted board game.
Alex: [rises] After Charlotte died, I needed closure. I wanted it on my own terms. Wren let me come to Rosewood alone 'cause he knew that I would come back to him. And after I found out who killed Charlotte, that's just what I did.
Spencer: Yet here you are.
Alex: Now, I know this isn't fun for you, but it is *very* exciting for me.
[chuckles]
Alex: You see, I've been dying to meet you.
[stands bent over Spencer, who lunges at her]
Alex: Whoo!
[jumps back, laughs]
Spencer: [shackle made her fell, gets up] Damn... You could have just called.
Alex: [merrily enjoying herself] That is such a classic Spencer line!
[cackles]
Alex: Oh, I'll be sure to use it!
Spencer: If I'm in here because you're pretending to be me, my friends are gonna figure it out! You're never gonna pull this off!
Alex: [husky voice] I've already pulled it off.

Melissa: [seeing Caleb and Spencer flirt] When did that happen?
Spencer: What? Caleb? We're friends.
Melissa: Really? 'Cause I know how you like to shop out of other people's carts
Spencer: If you're referring to Hanna, that cart is engaged to someone else. It really doesn't matter because there is nothing going on.
Melissa: Maybe you're more comfortable with lying than you think.

Caleb: Uh... So, since we, uh... Should I get my own place?
Spencer: Is that what you want?
Caleb: Is that what you want?
Spencer: [smiles] Look, I just need you to promise me one thing.
Caleb: [softly] Okay.
Spencer: I will always get the first cup of coffee in the morning.
Caleb: [chuckles] Spencer... I will not come between you and your relationship with caffeine.
Spencer: Thank you.
[smiles]

Hanna: I cannot believe Spencer Hastings actually has time to shop. I mean, you're interning for the mayor, taking classes at Hollis, and redoing the barn. And in your leisure moments you Facebook and tweet.
Spencer: You know me. I like to stay busy.
Hanna: It's called a summer vacay, Spence.
Spencer: And you spent yours sunning and shopping.
Hanna: Tweet, tweet.
[they chuckle]
Spencer: [serious] Did you see the paper today?
Hanna: Yeah.
Spencer: She's gone, but she's everywhere.

Spencer: [cell phone rings] Hello?
Hanna: Hey, Melissa just left. Should we go in?
Spencer: No, wait. I'll text you when she gets here.
Hanna: All right. Roger that.
Aria: "Roger that"?
Hanna: We're on a mission.

Spencer: [kissed Furey in front of everybody] Oh, my God, I'm so sorry. Did I just do that?

Spencer: [re their Homecoming date tomorrow] I'm wearing a silver strapless dress.
Alex: Can't wait to see you in it.
Spencer: See you tomorrow.
Alex: See you tomorrow.

Spencer: If there's one thing we all should know by now, it's that not everybody tells you everything.

[Teresa sees Sam and Al for who they really are]
Teresa: [re Sam, then Al] That's not my Mommy, that's a man. So's the guy in the yucky shirt.
Admiral: This is my favorite shirt. This is cutting-edge stuff.
Teresa: It's yucky.

[first lines]
Aria: I cannot believe we let Noel bring us here.
Hanna: Do we think she's even coming?
Spencer: I don't know, but when I saw that it was him instead of Ali, I felt for sure this was a trap.
Hanna: Probably is, and we're just sitting here like geese.
Spencer: Ducks.
Hanna: What?
Spencer: You 'sit like ducks'. Not geese.
[shakes her head]
Hanna: Okay, well, whatever, they both quack.
Spencer: Geese honk.

Spencer: [going to fix drink, really only wants to talk to Hanna] I may need your help.
Hanna: How many people does it take to fix a mojito?
Spencer: Two.

Spencer: [to Dean] Drinking a glass of salad is supposed to give me my life back?

Hanna: Are you gonna see Toby?
Spencer: I already did. He's building a house.
Hanna: He's building a house?
[Spencer chuckles]
Hanna: With tools? By himself?
Spencer: Yup.
Hanna: Wow.
Spencer: Yeah, wow, indeed. All I got was a chair, and some lucky girl's gonna get an entire house.

Hanna: Ok, I need to ask you guys something and I need you to be totally honest with me.
Spencer: Of course.
Aria: Sure.
Emily: Sure.
Hanna: Is this side of my face fatter than this side?
Spencer: No!
Aria: No!
Emily: No!

Spencer: [to Toby] Please be careful. And you call me the minute you find Jason.

Dr. Anne Sullivan: When did these threats begin? Did the texts start coming after Alison's funeral?
Emily: Before.
Aria: At first, we thought they were coming from Alison. But then they found her... her body.
Dr. Anne Sullivan: And... you don't have any idea who this A person might be?
Hanna: We do... but...
Spencer: ...we've... been wrong before. A is an expert on making other people look guilty.
Dr. Anne Sullivan: Do we think this person goes to your school?
Hanna: Maybe. But... it's not like we go home and we're suddenly safe.
Aria: A is everywhere, like, constantly on us.
[shaking her head]
Aria: Like a shadow.
Dr. Anne Sullivan: And I'm the first person you've told about this? Why have you waited this long to say something?

Spencer: [spoiler] Why am I the last to know?
Veronica: You're not. Melissa doesn't know either.
Spencer: What? How could you not tell her? How could you be okay with it? How can you go on... living next door to them for all of these years?
Veronica: I didn't know. I didn't know until Jason was nearly an adult, and by then...
[shrugs]
Veronica: your father and I, we discussed it.
Spencer: You discussed what? How he was gonna tell his daughters that he was going on a father-son fishing trip with the kid next door?
Veronica: I understand that you feel angry... and confused and betrayed. Believe me, I did too. And sometimes I still do. But I've had to get past it.
Spencer: How?
Veronica: Spencer, every family has secrets. If I had known before, then I would have made a different decision, and you wouldn't be here.
[Spencer sighs]
Veronica: Honey, please, let's go home and talk to your father.
Spencer: No, I don't wanna talk to him. I don't even wanna look at him.
Veronica: Spencer, this doesn't really change anything...
Spencer: [yells, shaking her head] No, this changes everything!
Veronica: [looks back to see if they've been overheard] Honey, please. Let's go home.
Spencer: What is home?
[shrugs]
Spencer: That's a joke!
[walks away]

Emily: [girls go down into the cellar] Ugh. That smell. Smells like Grandma's house.
Spencer: Yeah, if Grandma died, was eaten by her cats and then found five days later.
Hanna: Dark much?
Spencer: Nah, just dark enough.
[finds filing cabinet, opens drawer]
Spencer: Guys, look at this. Jessica had a file on each of us.
Alison: She was investigating us
Spencer: Yeah, all of us except Aria, she doesn't have a file.
Alison: You think somebody took It?
Emily: Yeah, but why?

Caleb: Hey, I will figure out who did this. You need to figure out what Melissa's been up to. I can only cover for one sister at a time.
Spencer: Where are you gonna go?
Caleb: I don't know. I... I'll work it out.
Spencer: [tearful embrace] I want you to stay.
Caleb: I know you do. But I can't.
[they hug, kiss]

[first lines]
Veronica: [at Hastings household] I'm sure they took your feelings into consideration. And, yes, it sucks. But it came from up high.
Spencer: What, the police?
Veronica: The school board.
Emily: [at Fields household] What?
Pam: They think your attendance could endanger the other students' safety. And from what I understand about the gallery situation, I don't completely disagree.
Hanna: [at Marin household] I do. They can't punish us.
Ashley: It's not a punishment.
Hanna: Really? Being disinvited to your own prom? What would you call it?
Ella: [at Montgomery household] A blessing. If Charles, A, or whatever he calls himself, was bold enough to pull that stunt with the photos, he's not gonna be scared to crash a school party.
Aria: Well, then, fill the ballroom with police. It's fairytale themed, they can come as the village idiots.
Ella: You can still celebrate that night in a quiet, more intimate way. Veronica has offered to host a small gathering in the backyard barn.
Aria: You're kidding me.
Spencer: [back at the Hastings] Seriously?
Veronica: Why not?
Spencer: Because it's filled with Melissa's stuff. How is that a banquet hall?
Veronica: You can roll up a rug.
Spencer: And what? Take our prom pictures on top of a washer and dryer?
Ashley: [at Marin home] Hanna, you don't have a choice. If the school board doesn't want you at prom or commencement...
Hanna: Commencement? Wait, we were barred from that too? So, now I'm not gonna graduate?
Pam: [at Fields household] You will graduate. You just won't be walking across the stage to get your diploma. You'll be...
Emily: ...walking to the mailbox. Unbelievable!
[covers her face with her hands]
Pam: I'm sorry.
Spencer: [at the Hastings home] No. I'm sorry. I spent the last two weeks writing that stupid valedictorian speech that I didn't even wanna give in the first place.
Veronica: Honey, the circumstances have changed since you started writing that speech.
Spencer: I know. It went from a pity toss to a humiliation hurl.
Veronica: Please. Stop focusing on what you don't have. And focus on the fact that you're here. And you have four dear friends that you can celebrate with.
Spencer: That barn is not big enough for us, our dates, and our poufy dresses.
Veronica: You'll open a window.
Aria: [later that morning, at Rear Window] That's what she said?
Spencer: Oh, no, there was more. She said something about hanging twinkly lights on Melissa's shower curtain, but by that time I was already halfway up the stairs.
Aria: I guess it could be worse.
Spencer: Really? How?
Aria: I'm thinking.

Toby: [clears throat] So you're in town for your Mom's campaign?
Spencer: No. I got... a request from the State of Pennsylvania. They would like my opinion on something.
Toby: Ali's been trying to get Charlotte out of the hospital.
Spencer: Yeah.
[nods]
Spencer: We're going to talk to the court.
Toby: We?
Spencer: Aria, Em, Hanna and me.
Toby: All of you in one place at one time? When was the last time that happened?
Spencer: [shakes her head] Long time.
Toby: When Alison flashes the bat signal...
Spencer: It's not like that. You know, we're still friends, and we're not just "let's go see a movie and have dinner" friends, but the "I saved your life and I know you saved mine" kind of friends. You know, you were there.
Toby: How long are you gonna be here for?
Spencer: Well, the hearings tomorrow, and then... and then I don't really know.
Toby: Can I... buy you dinner before you leave?
Spencer: Yeah.
[smiles]
Spencer: Sure, we can do that.

Alison: Look at you four. You're scared to death.
[laughs]
Alison: I totally got you.
[as: ]
Alison: It was a hoax. The zombie was Noel.
[Emily drops the plank she'd been clutching]
Alison: Happy Halloween.
[licks tomato sauce from knife blade]
Alison: Ketchup. Want some, Hanna?
[smirks]
Alison: Come on, you guys.
[gets up]
Alison: It was funny.
Spencer: We're not laughing.
Alison: Well, you should be. You guys passed the test.
Aria: What test?
Alison: [smiles] The way you guys came charging in here, I know I can count on you now. If I really need you, you'll be there for me.
[starts leaving]
Alison: Let's go. We're missing a party.

Spencer: Toby, who are you building the house for?
Toby: What makes you think I'm building it for somebody?
Spencer: Because I know you.

Spencer: [to A through the surveillance camera before setting the vault on fire] Game on, Charles.

Aria: [flash-back of happy times, group basking in the sun] I wish we could just choose the age we wanted to be, and just... stay there.
Alison: The only way to do that is to die young. Leave a beautiful corpse.
Emily: Don't joke.
Alison: It's not a joke. Oh, come on. Haven't you guys ever thought about how deliciously tragic it would be to die in some... incredibly mysterious way? It would be superior.
Spencer: Is that really how you wanna go, Alison?
Alison: Not just yet.
Hanna: Don't talk like that.
Aria: It's gruesome.
Alison: It's not gruesome. It's immortality, my darlings.
Aria: [back to reality, as they look down at the centerpiece of the memorial] Where did she get that from, a movie?
Spencer: Ali was a movie.

Aria: [re Sara at funeral] What is she doing here?
Emily: Making sure that Charlotte is really dead.
Spencer: Really, sincerely dead.
Hanna: Let's go.

Spencer: [watching TV news re the fire] There's a report on the lodge, but nothing about Wilden's car.
Hanna: Well, I guess the fire trumps a dead pig.

Alison: Do you guys know how crazy this sounds?
Spencer: Trust me, we know exactly how crazy it sounds.
Aria: Jason never told you anything about Charlie?
Alison: No.
Spencer: He said your Dad knows all about it. Your Dad was the one who told Jason that Charlie had to go away.
Hanna: Ali, your Dad lied to you.

Caleb: [after Spencer tells him what happened to Sara] You were given an impossible choice.
Spencer: Yeah, I know, but... That's what I always tell myself, but... what if that's not true?
[shakes: ]
Spencer: What if... all of those years of being stalked and tortured... what if that hardened me? Like maybe it happened so slowly that I didn't even know that it was happening?
Caleb: Hey... You are a good person.
[Spencer sobs]
Caleb: Yes, you are. And you... you wear your heart on a sleeve. It just happens to... be the sleeve of a flak jacket.
[Spencer gives tearful laugh]

Aria: There's something seriously weird going on in this town.
Spencer: Uh, gee, you think? They're using headstones for bar-stools.

[first lines]
Spencer: [reading Alison's diary] I... don't understand. I... I don't recognize any of these names.
Hanna: 'Cause she changed them.
[shakes her head]
Hanna: She would change the stories too. You just have to know the real stories in order to recognize the fake ones.
Emily: Sounds like Ali. The truth bored her.
Spencer: So it's like creative non-fiction with pseudonyms.
Hanna: I don't know what that means, but sure.
Aria: Hanna, I can't believe that you held on to this since Ravenswood.
Spencer: Yeah, but we knew that Ali had journals. What's so bad about this one?
Hanna: [shakes her head] Because the stories in there, they're...
[sighs]
Hanna: they're personal.
Spencer: Personal? About Ali?
Hanna: About Ali and us. I mean, there are things in there that... we may not know about each other, and... things from... the past that we wanna forget.
Emily: [angrily] So you thought that you should get to read it and we don't?
Hanna: [defensively] Look, I just didn't see the point of bringing all that up again when we're supposed to be focused on finding Ali.
Spencer: That's not your call to make!
Hanna: I know! I made a mistake!
Emily: And it took you till now to realize that?
Hanna: Em, I said I was sorry!
Spencer: Did you?
Aria: [intervening] Okay, guys, all right! The most important thing is that we have this now. Okay, Hanna, you said that there are stories in here about Ali. What about Board Shorts,
[shakes her head]
Aria: or someone else who might have been after her?
Hanna: There might be,
[shakes her head]
Hanna: I don't know. I just couldn't put all the pieces together on my own.
Emily: So this is what we do. We each take turns, we'll weed out the stories about us, and we'll see what's left over.
Spencer: Who goes first?
Emily: I do.
[grabs journal]

Spencer: It doesn't matter. It's already out there. And it would be a mistake for me to go to your interview tomorrow.
Veronica: Why?
Spencer: Because I would just be a distraction.
Veronica: [shakes her head] Honey, the Rosewood Observer has more class than to pay attention to a few tasteless tweets.
Spencer: Mom, I'm partially responsible for Charlotte's getting out, and on the night that she did, she was killed. So, whatever way they spin it, her death and my association to it will come up. And it's best if I'm not with you when it does.

Spencer: It feels like someone's ripping my brain out through my eye sockets!

Caleb: [Spencer isn't sure she could go to Harrisburg] What would be stopping you?
Spencer: This town has its own particular gravity. We both know that.

Caleb: Hey.
Spencer: Hi.
Caleb: How did it go?
Spencer: Not good. They asked me to lie.
Melissa: They don't want you to lie.
Spencer: Okay. They want me to use a non-denial denial.
Caleb: So, lying.
Spencer: Yeah.
Melissa: If you can avoid addressing certain things, you should. No, don't take off your shoes. We have to get to Hollis in thirty minutes.
Caleb: What is this Hollis thing? Gill asked me to post about it.
Spencer: They're registering college kids to vote, trying to reverse the political apathy of our youth.
Caleb: That's noble.
Spencer: It's really not. It's a photo-op for the candidate's children...
[whispers: ]
Spencer: who are starving.
Caleb: Okay, I'll make you some eggs. Do you want some toast?
Spencer: Oh, my God, please. Burned.
Caleb: It's the only way I make them.

Spencer: Hanna has a plan and Caleb has the know-how, and if we don't back them up, they're just gonna do it by themselves.

Hanna: Yeah, anxiety dreams. In mine, usually there's always a piece of gum in my hair. And I just keep pulling and pulling until I'm bald.
Spencer: Academic Decathlon. I show up to state finals with my underwear on the outside.

Spencer: Don't do this!
Alison: Let go!
Spencer: Look, if we scared him off, just consider it a gift. Please leave while you can.
Alison: You didn't get his text. It wasn't threatening.
Spencer: Ali...
Alison: I have to meet him!
Spencer: [shakes her head] Please don't follow your worst instincts.
Alison: You don't get it! You've never understood me. You never even liked me.
Spencer: What are you talking about?
Alison: He's not your brother, Spencer, he's mine. And I'm not leaving until I can look him in the eye and ask him why. What did I ever do to make him hate me?

Aria: Hanna is convinced that Mona did all this as a way to right all the wrongs.
Spencer: When has Mona ever done anything out of the goodness of her heart?
Aria: What heart?
Spencer: She told the police that we bullied her once. She could do it again.
Aria: [frowns] Like we forced her to confess?
Spencer: Yeah! And she still has that picture that A sent of the four of us standing outside of Wilden's car that night.
Aria: Yeah, but Mona was there too.
Spencer: Not according to the picture.
[shakes her head]

Spencer: Hanna, stop.
Hanna: What other evidence? What is Furey talking about? Did A.D. send him a nose?
Emily: Hey, Hanna, breathe.
Hanna: No, you breathe! We have to play the game until the end or that body is gonna end up in somebody else's hands, piece by piece, and it's not gonna be ours! I'm taking another turn!
Spencer: Okay, it doesn't work like that. You have to be chosen.
Hanna: [to quiet Aria] Why haven't you had a turn?
Aria: I don't know. I'm not in control of this game.
[door opens]
Spencer: What was that?
Mona: [enters] That was me. Sorry I'm late. What did I miss?
Spencer: Uh... an invitation...?
Hanna: Mona knows about the game.
Emily: Why?
Hanna: Because we need her help, Emily. She's brilliant. She knows the answer before you even ask the questions.

Spencer: Or... maybe it was self-defense. Maybe it was Charlotte who snapped again. We all know that she was upset about Alison and Elliott back together. Maybe Ali had to defend herself.

Aria: [re little necklaces being given out by Soencer] What are these?
Spencer: Well, by no means can they top that rock on your finger. But... after what happened to Ali... I started thinking. We're like this crazy, disfunctional family... but... we work... together. And I've just decided that I'm at a point in my life where I wanna put the people who've had my back before anything else.
Hanna: [nods] I'm right there with you.
Emily: Me too.
Aria: I'm in.
Alison: Cheers.

Spencer: I'm really, really happy for you, Toby. You deserve love. You deserve that kind of great, big, beautiful love. More than anyone else I know.
Officer: [chuckles] Thank you. I hope that you find the same.
Spencer: [softly] Me, too.
[on her way again... then stops, turns back]
Spencer: Toby? Can I kiss you? One last time? Just to say goodbye.
[shakes her head]

Jason: You know why we act like this, don't you? Why the two of us always seem to be facing off?
Spencer: [sighs] Because we're wired the same.
[he nods]
Spencer: I think I know why Ali needed that money. At least a part of it.
Jason: Why?
Spencer: She was looking for someone. Someone she was afraid of.
Jason: Who?
Spencer: I think that I can find that out, but I... I'm gonna need you to trust me... a lot.
Jason: A lot?
Spencer: Two thousand dollars worth.

Spencer: I think A took a nap and woke up tonight!

Aria: [in Dr. Sullivan's waiting room] What are we supposed to tell her?
Hanna: It's not about telling her. It's about telling each other.
Emily: Hanna, I think sometimes it's better not to talk about things.
Hanna: Really, Em? How have you been sleeping?
Aria: Guys, we shouldn't do this without Spencer.
Hanna: She'll be here.
Emily: Are you sure?
Spencer: [entering just then] Guys, we need to talk.
Aria: [softly] That's why were here.
Spencer: No, I mean, we have to talk. Jason told me who Charles DiLaurentis is.
Aria: Wait. So he knew what Ali didn't? Was Alison lying?
Spencer: It wasn't Charles. At least, not when Jason knew him. It was Charlie. They were friends when they were really little.
Emily: So Charlie grew up to be Charles?
Spencer: Charlie was Jason's imaginary friend.
Hanna: Imaginary?
[frowns]
Hanna: Like... Mr. Biscuit?
[other three look at her funny]
Hanna: Long story.
Aria: Wait.
[to: ]
Aria: Jason told you this?
Spencer: Yes. And then one day, Mr. DiLaurentis went to Jason and said that Charlie had to go away, and then Jason never saw Charlie again.
Aria: Wait... wait a minute. So, if Jason's dad knew that Charlie was Jason's imaginary friend, why wouldn't he just tell Alison that when she asked him?
Spencer: Yeah. Why not?

Hanna: God, he's freaking me out! Whose locker is he poking into now?
Spencer: He's desperate. Ali's brother's breathing down his neck.
Aria: Ours too. What if Jason told the police Alison's version of what happened after the fire?
Spencer: If Jason was gonna tell them, he would've told them a year ago. He knows that story's bogus.
Aria: Well, then, why do they bring it up?
Spencer: To try to drive a wedge between us. Well, he's not gonna do that.

Aria: Wait, they still think you sent that picture?
Hanna: Yup.
Spencer: At least you weren't suspended, Han. This is gonna blow over.
Hanna: Yeah, till A gets hungry again and takes another bite out of my ass.

Hanna: God, I wish people would be more specific with their clues.
Spencer: I'll put that in a suggestion box.
[smirks]
Aria: So what do we do about this?
Spencer: I wanna know where Jenna is tomorrow at 4:15.
Aria: [remembers] She asked about you, Em.
Emily: What did she wanna know?
Aria: How you were holding up.
[Emily rolls her eyes]
Spencer: She wants to know if you can remember being in the car with her. She just can't come out and say it.
Emily: This is crazy. It's like trying to read a book, and someone keeps ripping out the pages.
Hanna: [comforting her friend] Em, we'll put it together, right?
Spencer: Yeah, we know that somewhere between being with us and... getting to Alison's grave, you were with Jenna. We just have to find out how you got into the car, and where you went, and we'll be that much closer to figuring out what happened that night.

Spencer: What is the purpose of this party? Is it really to celebrate Jenna's birthday, or is it just to get all of us in the same room so that she can drop a vat of pig's blood on us?
Hanna: She's not dropping anything on me. I won't be there. Who wants to go to this stupid party anyways?
Aria: Me.
[the other two look at her incredulously]

Spencer: I'm... afraid to ask you this, but I really have to. Did we make a mistake? You and I?
Caleb: No.
[shakes his head]
Caleb: No, we didn't. Whatever we did, it wasn't a mistake, it was real.
Spencer: So why are you talking about it in the past tense?

Spencer: Okay, so we can go classic with When Harry Met Sally... or we can watch The Notebook for, like, the millionth time?
Alison: [scoffs] I don't care. You can decide.
[applies red toenail lacquer]
Spencer: [notices golden anklet] That's really pretty.
Alison: [chuckles] Don't you love finding new places to wear jewelry?
[continues painting her toes]
Alison: I'm never taking it off.
Spencer: Who gave it to you?
Alison: No one special.
Spencer: Just one of the nameless, faceless revolving door boyfriends who adore you?
Alison: No. Just a friend.

Spencer: Guys, Santa's not bringing me a stay-out-of-jail-free card.

Hanna: [yet another parcel] There's nothing in here. It's just an empty box.
Spencer: Or maybe not.
Hanna: For once, I'm right, and you're wrong, Spencer.

Spencer: Detective Furry... Marco!
[comes down the steps]
Spencer: Uh... Do you have a minute?
Detective: Of course.
Spencer: Um... I just really wanted to clear the air... since our, um..
Detective: Moment?
Spencer: Yeah. I obviously did not know that you were a police officer at the time.
Detective: And you have a problem with law enforcement?
Spencer: No, I...
Detective: Yeah? No?
Spencer: [both chuckle] Okay. Yeah. Uh, you're investigating my friend's husband. I wouldn't want anything to get... complicated. Not that you're at all interested in me. I just, um... Just saying.
[shakes her head]
Detective: Okay. Is there anything she can be holding back? Anything that would help the investigation?
Spencer: No. No, I think she told you everything.
Detective: Thank you.
Spencer: Yeah.
[goes on her way]

Spencer: I don't know how much more of this A I can handle. I mean, I survived Mona with straight A's, and now, I'm, like, failing everything, even physics.
Emily: Spence, it's gonna be okay. And... a B is far from failing.
Spencer: B is for bad.

[last lines]
Aria: Are you sure you wanna do this?
Hanna: I wouldn't have thought of it if I wasn't ready to do it.
Caleb: Look, guys, this isn't a democracy, okay? We're not taking votes. This is something that Hanna and I decided to do.
[his hand goes to his ex's shoulder, and this upsets Spencer]
Caleb: And the only thing you need to do is decide whether or not you're gonna help us.
[whole group considers this uneasily]
Spencer: Nobody here is gonna let you do this by yourself.
Hanna: All right. So let's get started.
[starts: ]
Hanna: Leave my friends alone. I killed Charlotte.

Aria: [Hanna wants to get rid of Toby's file] Can we at least talk about this?
Hanna: No! I don't want this in my house, I don't want it in my locker.
Spencer: I will mail it to the police.
Hanna: No, it's not gonna happen. I'm not having this traced back to me.
Spencer: How are they gonna trace it back to you? I'm the one licking the envelope.
Hanna: And I'm the one who works in that building.
Aria: Hanna!
Hanna: And I'm also the one who always gets caught.
Aria: Hanna! Spencer's right. Okay, burning the folder out here is a bad idea. The police could use it to build a case against Toby...
Spencer: He had a motive to kill Alison.
Hanna: And they can also prove that I broke into his shrink's office. Look, I really can't afford to take any more field trips to the precinct. I'm pretty sure that after three strikes you get assigned to the prison laundry.

[first lines]
Spencer: Okay, so we know that Noel Kahn stole the Mary Drake file from Toby's Airstream.
Emily: How's Yvonne doing?
Spencer: She... she's okay. Toby's gonna spend some time with her.
Hanna: And then right after he got that file, he called Dr. Cochran.
Caleb: Sounds like Jenna and Noel are on the same path that we are.
Alison: Only they're ahead of us.
Emily: Yeah, but who burned us out of the storm cellar?
Spencer: Somebody who didn't want us to know that Mary Drake had a second child.
Alison: A.D.
Hanna: Noel Kahn! You guys, Noel's been in the middle of everything that's been happening to us. He clearly has more A-ness than anyone else out there.
Alison: I wouldn't have put it that way, Hanna.
Emily: Hold on, Ali, you know Noel better than any of us.
Alison: I'm not proud to say It, but you're probably right. I trusted him once, but then I realized he was spying on me for Charlotte.

Toby: Your parents are gonna work through this, Spencer. They have a lot of history together.
Spencer: That's what's splitting them up.

Alison: I told you what my father said!
Spencer: You have to ask him again. You have to make him tell you.
Alison: He looked at me and said that there was no such person as Charles DiLaurentis in our family.
Spencer: [yells] Ali, your father's lying to you! A didn't just pick that name out of the air.
Alison: A is for Andrew!
Spencer: Then why put the name Charles DiLaurentis right in front of us? Hidden, but hidden just enough. Why did he want us to find it?
Alison: Look, if this person's real, and my Dad knows who it is, he'd be down at the police station right now!
Spencer: I really wish I was as sure of that as you are. If you actually are that sure.
Alison: I think you should go now.
Spencer: [starts leaving, turns back at door] I'm going to talk to Jason.
Alison: No. Leave him out of it. He's messed up enough because of this.
Spencer: Then he has a right to know and maybe get unmessed. He's my brother too. Our families are connected. They're more than just connected. They're all tangled up like necklaces in the bottom of your jewelry box.
Alison: Leave him alone. I don't want anybody else hating me.
Spencer: What makes you think he's gonna hate you?
Alison: Because that's how it works.
[sits down on bed]
Alison: I'm under every stone that somebody turns over. I make people into people that they never were.
[shakes her head]
Alison: It's all my fault. I saw you and Em and Aria and Hanna in that place, that sick place, and I knew... I was why you were there. It always comes down to me, and everyone would be fine without me.
Spencer: [sees warning lights flicker] God. Ali, no, it's not like that.
Alison: You think it yourself.
Spencer: No. I don't.

Spencer: [reading Alison's autopsy report] There was dirt in her lungs.
Aria: What do you mean?
Spencer: It means that she was breathing in dirt when she died. That the... the blow to her head isn't what killed her.
Aria: [stammering] I don't...
Spencer: Aria, Alison was buried alive.

Aria: Where do you think we are? I mean, we don't know how long we were out before we got here.
Hanna: We could be in the Amazon right now.
Spencer: No, we're in the Northern Hemisphere. That's the waning moon.
Hanna: I was saying that facetiously.
Mona: Wow, that's an eleven-letter word, Hanna.

Hanna: [enters psychiatrist's office carrying designer shopping bags] Sorry I'm late, but have you been downtown? The sales are huge.
Dr. Anne Sullivan: [nods] You must be Hanna. I'm Anne.
[smiles]
Hanna: [sweetly innocent] So, what did I miss?
Aria: Not a thing.
Spencer: We waited for you.
Hanna: [foiled] Damn.

Spencer: [sumptuous dinner prepared] Somebody's getting the royal treatment.
Peter: Well, your Mom will be home soon. I wanted... to do something special for her.
Spencer: I would have gone for jewelry instead of roasted duck, but... that's just me.

Caleb: More coffee?
Spencer: Always.

Emily: You okay? Spence, what's wrong? You're not upset because Ali tried to hook up with Toby, are you? Who even knows if she did? Just because she wrote it down, doesn't...
Spencer: [sobbing] I... I haven't told you guys the truth.
[shakes her head]
Emily: What do you mean? What truth?
Spencer: [tearfully] That Toby and I broke up... last night.
Emily: You did?
[Spencer nods]
Emily: What happened?
Spencer: Uh... I'm not really ready to talk about it. Can we... please just keep it between us?
Emily: Yeah.
[hugs Spencer]
Spencer: Thanks.

[first lines]
Emily: Can Toby tell you if it was human remains in that drum?
Spencer: [perusing magazine] Uh, they don't know. But even if he could, he probably wouldn't tell me.
Aria: Are you guys okay?
Spencer: [without looking up] We are some distance removed from okay.
Emily: I'm sorry.

Spencer: Maybe she came back here to mourn the death of her mentor. Not her tormentor.

[first lines]
Hanna: [while Spencer stares out the window] Where has she been all this time?
Aria: I don't know.
Emily: Do you think she's been hiding right here... in Rosewood?
Hanna: Why would she be hiding? Why couldn't she just come back?
Aria: I don't know.
Hanna: You keep saying that.
Aria: [shrugs] Because I don't know.
Emily: Okay, what do we know? Somebody tried to kill Ali. They buried her in her backyard.
Aria: Right, and then Grunwald pulled her out.
Hanna: Yeah, like a carrot.
Aria: But why didn't she just call the cops?
Emily: Which cops were she supposed to call? Wilden, Garrett?
Hanna: Ali not calling the cops is the only thing I do understand.
Aria: You guys, we just found out that Ali is alive. She's really alive. But why am I not insanely happy?
Emily: Thought it was just me.
Hanna: It's not.
Spencer: [turns away from window] Look, we can figure out how we feel about this later. The fact is that Ali's alive. Right? And she's been hiding out this whole time. Maybe it was in Rosewood. Maybe it was in Philadelphia. Maybe it was in Nova Scotia. Okay? But the sooner we can make it okay for her to come back, the sooner we can sit her down in a chair and ask her what the hell is going on, and why she would do this to us.
Emily: [shakes her head] Ali always liked games.
Aria: What? Like she's been playing with us? Chasing us around on the game board...
Emily: Like she was A? Tell me you never thought that yourself.
Hanna: No. That's crazy, isn't it?
Emily: But we have to consider every possibility, don't we?
Hanna: Not the ones that make you wanna hide in the closet with a quart of ice cream.
Spencer: There's someone Ali's so afraid of, she can't come back. Who?
Emily: Toby said the only thing that Shana was guilty of, was selling Jenna's car to Mona.
Aria: And CeCe's been busy running from the cops 'cause she killed Wilden.
Hanna: What about Board Shorts?
Emily: Uh, we don't even know if that's a real person.
Spencer: It was a real person who came after me in that house.

Dr. Anne Sullivan: What happened in the woods that made you not want to be Spencer?
Spencer: [long consideration] Toby Cavanaugh is dead. I saw his body in the forest. Somebody killed him.
Dr. Anne Sullivan: If this is true...
Spencer: It is true. I saw it.
Dr. Anne Sullivan: Why didn't you tell the park rangers?
Spencer: [morose] Because that wouldn't bring him back.
Dr. Anne Sullivan: If someone killed Toby...
Spencer: Somebody did kill Toby, but I am the reason that he's dead!
Dr. Anne Sullivan: I am going to call your family, and then I am going to call the police. Do you understand?
Spencer: [softly] Yes.
Dr. Anne Sullivan: [softly] Okay. I'll be right back. Stay here.
[rises, goes off]
Spencer: [muttering by herself] Where have I got to go?

Spencer: [,impatiently] Where were you?
Hanna: I'm sorry, guys, I chickened out. I couldn't go back there. Not after calling her a liar and a murderer to her face.
Emily: She is a liar. Up until yesterday, we all thought she was a murderer too.
Hanna: Well, you guys didn't make a personal appearance, cut her open and put salt in the wound and exfoliate it. Was she upset?
Spencer: I don't know. Your absence kinda took a second position to the bomb we had to drop about Mona.
Emily: After we left, Ali was still pretty much in a state of shock.

Peter: [Spencer just came downstairs] Nice to see how much you take our little chat to heart.
Spencer: What?
Peter: [grunts] Not less than twenty-four hours after my request, Caleb's in the house.
Spencer: Dad, he had to get some clothes. And how do you even...
Peter: And then a park bench? Right?
Spencer: You cannot just ask me to cut this person out of my life.
Peter: [whirls around angrily] Do I look like I'm asking?
[sighs]
Peter: Spence, listen. I know... I know how painful this is. And maybe Caleb had good intentions. But his actions prove that he doesn't have the same value system as this family.
Spencer: Oh, my God! Can you really look at me and say that with a straight face? You are protecting her! She killed someone, and you shuttle her off to Europe? What kind of value system is that?
Peter: She didn't kill anyone. She was being blackmailed.
Spencer: What are you talking about?
Peter: [sighs] Right before Charlotte's hearing, your sister started getting threatening messages. Someone claimed to have her on tape confessing to burying Bethany.
Spencer: That can't be true, Dad.
Peter: She was told to drop money off at some disclosed location, or the video would be released. That's why she came back to Rosewood in secret.
Spencer: Who was blackmailing her?
Peter: She doesn't know. But she dropped off the money, and she hoped everything would go away. Then Charlotte turned up dead.
Spencer: [stammers] Okay. So then, why flee? You said she had nothing to do with it.
Peter: She got spooked, Spence.
Spencer: Why didn't you tell her to go to the police?
Peter: [shakes his head] I was scared. Okay, scared that, like you, they would think she was guilty of more than just being...

Mona: Hello. You're not planning on choking me again, are you?
Spencer: No, I just wanted to say thank you for the flowers. The orchids are especially beautiful.
Mona: I have no idea
[chuckles]
Mona: what you're talking about. Might be time to visit your doctor friend again.
Spencer: Listen to me, Mona. I'm not playing around. Do not hurt my friends. Okay? If you so much as touch one hair on their heads, I will make you very sorry. Am I clear?
Mona: Looks like someone's been skipping their anger management class.

Spencer: [tracking Jason] Guys, this is right outside of Rosewood. He should've called me by now.
Aria: Spence...
Spencer: No! He's supposed to be our backup. Not some one-man target. And if anything happens to him, then... I'm going!
Hanna: I'll go with you.
[gets up from bed]
Emily: Okay, I didn't let Hanna perform surgery on me for nothing. Let's go!

Emily: [about Hanna and Caleb] And you're just gonna let the two of them run this?
Spencer: It's their plan. What do you want me to do? Wedge myself in between them on the sofa?

Yvonne: Do you have, uh, another favor to ask?
Spencer: Look, I... I really don't wanna cause any problems between you two.
Yvonne: You already have.
Spencer: I know. And I'm sorry.
Yvonne: [shakes her head] I wouldn't mind him helping you if I knew what he was doing. Last time he wouldn't tell me anything.
Spencer: Thats because I asked him not to. It's just... I'm... I'm sorry, it's private.
Yvonne: Well, I can't have him disappearing again. Not tonight. We have family coming over. To celebrate.
[shrugs, chuckles nervously]
Spencer: [sees engagement ring] Oh, my God! Congratulations! I'm sorry, I didn't know.

Spencer: [talking on phone while merrily munching on very suspicious cookies] My mother's just sitting on my chest. She's still on my case about this stupid valedictorian thing.
Aria: Why don't you just say yes?
Spencer: Because it's a pity toss, that's why. I've been gone for over a month. She probably offered to buy them a planetarium.
Aria: Just do it. Please, just give me a freaking reason to go to graduation.
Spencer: Oh, really? Now you wanna go to graduation? Hasn't your Dad excused you from ever having to set foot in school again? I have to run.
Aria: What's happened?
Spencer: My Mom just got back from Curves, and I'm not having this argument with her after she pumped iron. Call you later, okay? Bye.

Hanna: What is hanging out under your sweater? Is that a dude's undershirt?
Spencer: [halts] Maybe.
[sits: ]
Spencer: It's... Toby's.
[brushes hair from her eyes as her friends sit down as well, all concerned]
Spencer: Guys... don't look at me like I'm one of those dogs with wheels for legs, okay?

Emily: [at The Brew, treating her friend to coffee with whipped cream] You feeling better?
Spencer: Not better. Less stupid. Thank you for stopping me.
Emily: Save it for the right target.
Spencer: For A, in the flesh?
Emily: That's one candidate.
Spencer: What are you thinking?
Emily: "We're all in this together"...? I mean, that could be A, or... it could be Alison.
Spencer: Or, A wanting us to think it's Alison.

Aria: I can't stop thinking about Mona.
Spencer: We know that A likes to play with us, but this time I don't know what the game is.
Aria: It's "I'm going down, but I'm dragging you with me."

[first lines]
Detective: [interrogation room] Why did you go to the Radley Hotel that night?
Spencer: My friend was working and I wanted a drink.
Detective: And did you see Archer Dunhill?
Spencer: I knew him as Elliott Rollins.
Detective: Did you see him?
Spencer: No, but that doesn't mean he wasn't there.
Detective: What time did you leave the bar with Detective Furey?
Spencer: I knew him as Marco.
Detective: [impatiently] What time did you leave?
Spencer: I don't know. Eleven? Don't you have video surveillance footage of me?
Detective: Do you remember a... joke you made to Detective Furey? About burying a body?
Spencer: [leans forward] No, but I do remember unbuckling his belt in the elevator.
Detective: Did you pay for your drinks?
Spencer: You've asked me this question three times.
Detective: If you could just answer the question.
Spencer: I told you I got a second round.
Detective: What time would you have paid for the drinks? Videos around showed you paying around 10:45, is that right?
Spencer: Yes, could be.
Detective: Did you pay with your own card?
Spencer: Yes.
Detective: Which other card did you pay with?
Spencer: I don't remember.
Detective: What was the amount you paid?
Spencer: [impatiently] I don't recall.
Detective: Was it $79?
Spencer: I don't recall.
Detective: What was...
Spencer: I don't recall!
Detective: You might wanna wait for me to ask the question first.
Detective: [voice over intercom] That's enough for now, Barry.

Emily: She's locked in a cell because of us.
Aria: No, she's locked in a cell because of karma! Well, and because of us.
Emily: Look, no one's saying that she's a saint...
Spencer: Or even a decent human being.
Emily: She's on trial for a murder that she didn't commit. Mona set her up for it and was killed herself, and now Ali's going down for it. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
Aria: Well, she's definitely runner-up.

Emily: [as they search for storm shelter with flashlights] So, Noel Kahn stole Mary's Radley file and is shacking up with Jenna.
Spencer: Well, we don't know if they're together, but he definitely has in-and-out privileges in her hotel room.
Emily: Maybe he's the reason Sara Harvey slipped in the shower.
Hanna: There's nothing here.
Emily: Cellars are below ground, Hanna.

Spencer: [dark corridor, cellphone doesn't work] This thing is useless.
Caleb: You couldn't get a signal out of here with a satellite phone.

Spencer: Yeah, a cat plays with a mouse for hours before she actually eats it. Once it's dead, the fun's over.
Hanna: So, we were Ali's mice?
Spencer: We're her dolls.
Emily: Guys, Alison isn't playing with us, okay? She's dead.

Hanna: [to hospital patient Emily] So all the muscle spasms and the pain... That's all coming from your stomach?
Spencer: Yeah, but ulcers can heal. It's not forever, Em.
Hanna: Yeah, but she's got like a hole in her...
Spencer: [impatiently] Yes, there's a hole in her stomach. Moving on. Where did your Dad go?
Emily: He went to the house to talk to the new tenants. Guys, I have to deal with this, I can't keep lying to him.
Hanna: I guess not. Not if it's eating holes in your stomach.
Spencer: Moving on!
Aria: [entering with vending machine coffee] Hey, I'm sorry, I got here as soon as I could. I had to escape family court in my living room.
Spencer: Mike on trial?
Aria: Yeah, but the defendant didn't even show up.
[scoffs, hands coffee to Emily]
Aria: I got your fave.
[smiles]
Spencer: [as Emily sighs] Oh, she can't drink coffee.
Hanna: [whispers to Aria] Yeah, she's got a hole in her stomach.

Alex: But no matter what, he always thought of me as Alex, and I just... I didn't wanna be her anymore.
Spencer: So you broke up with him?
Alex: No. No, I can never do that.
[toys with her necklace]
Alex: But he is always close by. I turned his ashes into an eternity stone.
[causing Spencer to shrink back]
Alex: Because diamonds last forever.
[kisses stone, freaking out Spencer]
Alex: Sorry, I've got to go get ready. Um, hey, how are you planning on wearing your hair for the wedding?
[Spencer gives desperate look]
Alex: Don't worry about it. I'll figure it out.

Melissa: [as Spencer looks out the window at the DiLaurentis house] Don't let them catch you looking.
Spencer: Why, you think somebody's gonna throw a rock?
Melissa: It's a possibility. They hate us enough.
Spencer: We're not exactly the Hatfields and the McCoys.
Melissa: Nothing so... rustic. More like the Borgias and the Medicis.
Spencer: Well, that ended pretty nasty as well too.
Melissa: Lots of matricide.
Spencer: You think that Jason killed his mother.
Melissa: People are capable of all sorts of things. Under the right pressures.
Spencer: There's plenty of pressure. Right here in this house.
Melissa: Why did you send Toby after me?
Spencer: I didn't. He went on his own. Why did you lie about seeing him in London?
Melissa: On a practical level, there is no difference between seeing him and knowing he was there.
Spencer: Then, on a practical level, why lie about it?

[first lines]
Hanna: How you holding up, Em?
Emily: I don't think I'll be taking an elevator any time soon.
Aria: Any word from Jason?
Emily: No, nothing.
Hanna: Spencer, now that the whole NAT club is out of Rosewood, do you think A will retire?
Spencer: Or just have more time for us.
Hanna: Way to think positive, Spence.

Spencer: After what happened with Mona, we all decided it would be smart to get as far away from Alison as possible. God, how can she still decide where I go and what I do? She's behind bars, and we still cannot get far enough away from her. New Mexico, Montana, let's say I do go to the University of Hawaii...
Toby: She'll be here, in jail.
Spencer: Right. And she was able to plant a murder weapon in Mona's backyard for you to find. You don't think that she can book a plane ticket?
Toby: You don't know...
Spencer: You don't know, okay? We are pretty sure that she had help.
Toby: Well, none of us will ever know that for sure, will we?

Wren: [in swimming trunks, finds girlfriend's sister wearing swimwear in kitchen too] Perfect time for a Jacuzzi.
Spencer: [bikini, towel over her shoulders] I thought you guys weren't moving in until next week.
Wren: Melissa wanted to get settled before classes start.
[smiles]
Wren: You wouldn't happen to have a towel, would you?
[she tosses him the towel]

Aria: You ask Mike why he was at the blood drive. I already know what he'll say.
Hanna: That he was there to donate?
Aria: No. That I should mind my own business. I got the message loud and clear at the dock.
Spencer: Okay, but it is our business. We all saw where he was standing, right? By the coolers where they keep the blood. Our blood.
Aria: Really, Spencer?
Spencer: Well, if he was trying to get his hands on something that will help Alison...
Aria: So that's it? He's guilty? God, the court of public opinion in this town really sucks!
[slams locker door shut]
Emily: Everyone just take a breath, okay?
Hanna: Well, it's hard to breathe when someone is trying to set you up as an accessory to murder.
Spencer: Look, we still don't know why he was visiting Ali in jail, or why he fought with Mona. And if they had a serious falling out...
Aria: Just stop. Please.

Aria: [regarding their prime suspect Ian] What if he erased the video?
Spencer: Well, then we know for sure he's hiding something and we go to the police.
Emily: With a non-video? You think they're going to take our word for it?
Spencer: Look, we saw what we saw. Something went down between him and Alison. And he buried her in the yard to shut her up.

Spencer: [school hallway] I can't believe this is happening.
Hanna: Do you want us to talk to them for you?
Spencer: [whiny] No.
Emily: Who?
Hanna: Spencer's parents think she's nuts.
Spencer: [hastily correcting:] Unstable. And why should they believe me? I mean, we have no proof. I'm the girl who cried wolf.
Hanna: Yeah, and the wolf is living in your backyard.
Spencer: Right, that is why I needed to get into Room 214.
Hanna: [to Emily] Spencer thinks Jenna has a room at the Edgewood Motor Court.
Emily: Did you say 214?
Spencer: And I saw the bag that Ian gave her. It's in the room.
Hanna: Okay, I think we should take a break from playing Charlie's Angels. I don't wanna spend another night at the Rosewood PD.
[Spencer runs off]
Hanna: And there goes Lucy Liu.

Aria: [the threatening Halloween note] Guys... this note is signed by A!
Spencer: A was after Alison too!
[realizes: ]
Spencer: Before they were after us!
[worried faces all round]

Spencer: And also, you were right, by the way. I did have fun last night. But I also have boundaries. And getting to go to college is maybe my best chance to get out of this town, so I really don't want to ruin it.
Jonny: I get it, I do. Believe it or not, I have boundaries too.
Spencer: Really?
Jonny: At least I'm trying to.

Spencer: [running, panting] There, we just did three loops. That's three miles.
Dean: Now we're doing an extra loop for your little phone stunt yesterday.
Spencer: [gasps] God, why are you so mean, Dean?
Dean: Because you make me tense, Spence.

Emily: Hey. I've been looking for you. Did you get my text?
Spencer: Uh, yeah.
[wipes her brow]
Spencer: Yeah, you said that you found some of Ali's writing in an old notebook?
Emily: It's an entire conversation between Ali and a friend, but none of us recognize the friend's handwriting.
[hands it over]
Spencer: [quick glance] Sorry. I have to get to class.
Emily: You don't get it. Ali wasn't sharing makeup tips with this person. They were talking about a guy that Ali was secretly involved with. They call him "the beach hottie". Was Ian ever a lifeguard?
Spencer: I don't know. But Melissa might. Okay? Sorry, Em, I've really gotta get to class.
[returns notebook, goes off]
Emily: Spencer! Ali was scared of this guy. Or at least scared to tell him something.
Spencer: Okay, good luck figuring it out.
Emily: What?
Spencer: Maybe she was just scared to tell him that she was slutting it up in three different zip codes in one summer.
Emily: What are you saying?
Spencer: I'm saying that Ali wasn't loyal. To any of us. So why do we continue to be loyal to her? I mean, why should we care what happens to her?
[correcting: ]
Spencer: What happened to her?
Emily: Because we do... care.
Spencer: I think that I need to learn to stop.
[heads for door]
Emily: Wait! Read.
[hands over notebook again]

Spencer: [to Emily and Aria] The truth will set you free, but first it turns you inside out. Come.
Emily: Where to?
Spencer: Mona's house.

Emily: [re the crying baby on cellphone stuck in pillow] I don't hear anything. Why don't you just go in the house?
Spencer: I can't. My Mom and I...
[baby on video cries relentlessly]
Spencer: Look, I know this is just A.D. pressing on a raw nerve, right? They're just taking the fact that I'm some sort of Dickensian foundling. But one of you needs to take this. Or stick your fingers in my ears so that I can get some frigging sleep, because I've tried literally everything.
Hanna: Oh, my God, that is so annoying!
Aria: Why can't we just lock it up in Ali's house? She's out of town this weekend, right?
Spencer: That's a spectacular idea!
Emily: Actually, kind of unspectacular. I mean, a crying baby is the last thing Ali needs to hear when she comes back. She's got a lot on her mind.
Hanna: Why'd she go away again?
Emily: A-Ali has something to deal with.
[doesn't reveal the secret]
Emily: You know, paperwork. I guess there's a lot of red tape when you're trying to un-marry a dead identity thief.
Spencer: Okay, officially he's still alive.
Hanna: Well, did she officially change her last name yet? She should. Alison Rollins sounds like a mouthful of muffin.
Emily: Ezra's still in New York, right?
[passes the pillow to Aria]
Aria: I'm... I'm not babysitting this pillow by myself.
[passes pillow back to Emily]
Emily: Okay, well, our place is loud enough already. Caleb snores.
[passes pillow back to Aria]
Hanna: No, he doesn't.
Emily: Yes, he does.
Spencer: Oh, my God!
[stops the passing of the pillow between the two girls, hands it to Hanna]
Spencer: Someone, please!
[the whole time that baby is very, very noisy]
Emily: Are we still allowed to think that maybe Mary Drake is responsible for this? I mean, I know she's your birth mother and it's all a sensibilities subject.
Spencer: I don't think this is her. Why would she want to taunt me with this?
Hanna: Well, we could ask her, if she wasn't hiding out somewhere like a lying liar.
[crying stops]
Aria: Wait! Why did it stop?
Spencer: [dog-tired] I don't know and I don't care.
Hanna: [fishes cellphone out of the pillow] Guys, I have to keep the phone.
[baby gurgling]
Hanna: It's my turn.
[the message on the phone asks Hanna to look after the baby]

Emily: Wow, Toby has turned our boss into a romantic.
Spencer: I was always a romantic. You know, under a...
[Hanna suppresses giggle]
Spencer: thin veneer of pragmatism... and a few shockingly bad choices.

[first lines]
Emily: Lesli Stone. That's crazy.
Spencer: That's what I said. But maybe it's not.
Emily: Okay, but you were in a room with this person.
Spencer: Yeah, and they were wearing a mask. Look, Mona's always been shady about how she met this girl. And now we know why. They were sharing a straitjacket.
Emily: Spencer...
Spencer: Let's not forget that Mona got a gas mask. And she was passing out juice boxes while the rest of us we're making sure that we still had kidneys.
Emily: [sighs] What's taking Hanna so long?
Spencer: I don't know. She probably had to drag Mona here on a leash.
Emily: [sighs] Spencer, we saw A jump off a building. A set up an underground bunker with more spy equipment than the CIA. I mean, seriously, in your heart, do you believe that Lesli Stone...
Spencer: People can surprise you. Mona maintained a 4.0 average and perfect hair while she was tapping Rosewood police calls.
Emily: Spencer, we jumped on the Andrew train...
Spencer: He didn't have a motive. This girl does! She thinks that we killed Bethany!
Hanna: [enters] I can't get to her.
Spencer: Why?
Emily: Do you think that she skipped town?
Hanna: No. Mona's Mom busted her for sneaking out to Radley. She's totally unplugged. I mean, Mona's not even allowed to leave her room.
Spencer: Doesn't matter. I'm not even sure if Mona would be of any help anyways.
Hanna: Now you tell me? After I've tried to shimmy up her drainpipe?

Hanna: Spencer, stop giving us orders! We're not your winged monkeys!
Aria: Okay, guys, stop! Wait, there's gotta be a way that we can get to Caleb without...
[the cell phone rings]
Spencer: Answer it!
[hands it to Aria]
Aria: [gives it to Emily] Answer it. Answer it!
Emily: Why me? I've got glass in my hair!
Hanna: I'll answer it!
[hesitates]
Hanna: What do you want me to say? Should I tell them that we have the phone?
Spencer: They'll know that when you say hello.

Spencer: So, what's it like to run away?
Toby: Cold. Didn't you ever run away?
Spencer: Once. I think I was seven. My sister and I had an argument over something and... my parents took Melissa's side.
Toby: What were you fighting about?
Spencer: Some great injustice. I can't remember now.
[scoffs]
Spencer: But they sided with her... so I made a tuna salad sandwich and I ran away.
Toby: And where did you go?
Spencer: The movies. It was something animated. There was a princess and everybody was singing... Then I got lonely... and I ate my tuna salad sandwich and I came home.
Toby: Were your parents worried?
Spencer: They hadn't even noticed I was gone.
Toby: Do me a favor?
Spencer: What?
Toby: If you ever get the urge to run away again... call me first, okay?
Spencer: [smiles] Okay.
[his hand closes over hers, they smile]

Aria: [re return of Jenna] So, the day after we run someone over, she comes tapping through town?
Hanna: It's a coincidence.
Spencer: There's no such thing. Coincidences are the devil's way of remaining anonymous.

Spencer: Take a symbolic grave and make it a real one.
Alison: Points for irony.
Hanna: Points for being sick.

Spencer: [group going to follow Melissa and Wren] There's no turning back now, right?
[sighs]
Aria: [they go into woods] I've got 911 on speed-dial.
Hanna: [holds phone] I've only got one bar.
[checks again]
Hanna: Crap! No bars.
Emily: We should take a photo of Ian, prove we haven't been making this all up.
Hanna: Yeah, you go ahead and do that while I try not to get killed.
[others look back at her sharply]
Hanna: Sorry.
[shrugs]
Hanna: I'm just worried about Melissa. Who knows what Ian's thinking?
Aria: Or if he has a gun?
[this notion upsets the others]
Aria: He's the bad guy, right?

Peter: Please don't be sarcastic, Spencer.
Spencer: That's sort of like the native tongue in this house.

Hanna: Wishes don't come true, Emily. If they did, people wouldn't die.
Emily: I'm still holding out hope.
Spencer: Hope is a dirty four-letter word.
Emily: We live in an A world. And they still haven't found Mona's body.
Spencer: Yeah, that's because A likes to bury the bodies herself.
Aria: And then throw Ice Balls. I swear Alison is throwing this party to rub it in our faces. "I ruined your lives and now I'm the belle of the ball."
Spencer: Technically, she only ruined my life.
Emily: Ruin one of us, ruin all of us.
Aria: You know, I'd rather dance on dead monkeys than go to Ali's stupid Ice Ball.
Spencer: [quizzical look] Dead monkeys?
Hanna: Ali got everything she ever wanted. Mona's gone, Bethany's dead. And now she's making Spence go down for it.

Spencer: Where's Alex?
Melissa: He left.
Spencer: What do you mean?
Melissa: He. Left. Do you need me to tweet it to you?

Emily: A wants to play hide-and-seek.
Aria: [reads invitation:] "Be there when the clock strikes midnight."
[as: ]
Aria: Spence?
Spencer: [looking out the window:] Hide-and-seek was my favorite game with Melissa.
[turning back to the others: ]
Spencer: You wanna know why? I always won.

Caleb: I should have put Hanna in the car and taken off when I had the chance.
Spencer: Why didn't you?
Caleb: She would never leave you and Aria and Em. You guys are like... a band of Vikings.
Spencer: Well, less pillaging, better hygiene.

Hanna: I was just thinking about Emily. She finally gets over Maya,
[shakes her head]
Hanna: and now she's stuck with some twisted psycho bitch.
Spencer: She's just another monster that Alison created.
Aria: [scoffs] She's been gone two years, and we're still caught in her web.

[first lines]
Spencer: [in hospital] Hanna, will you slow down? You almost tripped over a catheter back there that was still attached to someone!
Hanna: [searching for room] Three-twelve. Three-twelve. Oh, there it is.
Spencer: We need to have a plan.
Hanna: We have a plan: Exposing A!
Spencer: Inside voice, okay? What is the plan exactly?
Hanna: We're going to replace Garrett's note with a fake note that we wrote.
Spencer: Yes, I know about that part of the plan. I'm the one who came up with it.
Hanna: Yeah, I was wondering why you were asking.
Spencer: But we still need a place to lead A.
Hanna: Rosewood church, by the organ in the main sanctuary, tonight.
Spencer: How did you come up with that?
Hanna: I have been living there since my Mom signed me up to sort through spandex shorts and granny panties.
Spencer: But won't the church be locked?
Hanna: That's the point. It's deserted at night.
Spencer: So when Lucas shows up to jimmy the lock...
Hanna: It's not gonna be Lucas!
Spencer: Yes, it will. He had the pills!
Hanna: Fine. Then I'll show up with a paddle and finish what I started at the lake!
Spencer: Wow. What happened to the girl who wouldn't get out of her sweats?
Hanna: She traded them for fatigues.
[grabs notepad]
Hanna: I'll write it.
Spencer: Are you sure you know how to write it?
Hanna: Yes. I've been forging my Mom's signature since seventh grade in PE.

Emily: [enters into room, sees her friends in discussion]
Aria: Hanna's not picking up. And she's not with Mona.
[puts away her cellphone]
Spencer: Or Caleb. But she did drop by his place last night to tell him that she would be going "off the grid" for a couple of days.
Emily: She's gonna do something to Noel.
Aria: Like what?
Emily: I don't know.
Spencer: Whatever it is, she's gonna do it alone because she thought that we wouldn't help her.
Aria: Okay, well, we really need to find her before she does something stupid.
Spencer: He's trying to track her down on her phone right now.
Aria: And... in the meantime?
Spencer: In the meantime, we go to the police. We tell them everything.
Emily: Tell them what? That Hanna said she was gonna be in New York, but we think she's here hunting down Noel like it's The Hunger Games? No... I think we wait and see if Caleb can find her.
[shakes her head]
Aria: Yeah, I agree.
Spencer: Yeah. Okay. Sure.

CeCe: [offering dress to Spencer] This length, those legs... Perfect.
Spencer: Uh, you probably should actually give that to Emily.

Spencer: [re Radley Hotel] If you're gonna chase away the demons, you have to go to where the demons are.

Emily: Nobody's gonna believe us when we have every reason to have wanted him dead!
Aria: We need to tell the truth!
Spencer: Yeah, what truth is that? The one where Hanna doesn't know the right pedal from the left?

Hanna: [while Spence goes to open door] I don't get it. Why would the cops want my Mom to come in for a lineup if Travis told the truth? Do you think that... A found a way to shut him up again?
Emily: Hey, Hanna, don't go there. Travis made you a promise. And he seems like a stand-up guy.
Aria: Plus he's really cute. And he's quite the dancer.
Spencer: [returning with large parcel] It's addressed to all of us.
Hanna: [magic 8 balls... with messages] "If she goes free..."
Spencer: "... you'll hear from me..."
Emily: "Kisses..."
Aria: "A."
Hanna: So, if my Mom gets off...
Aria: CeCe is coming for us.
Spencer: I say, bring it. Maybe then she'll leave our parents alone.
Spencer: Or did she just declare World War A?

Spencer: All roads lead to the Lost Woods Resort.

Hanna: He was there with a court order to talk to her.
Emily: So what do you think Mona said to Wilden?
Aria: If she knows that we were at Ali's grave that night...
Spencer: We would be in jail right now.
Hanna: [sighs] Hey, guys, we need to find out who the Black Swan is. Like now.

Alison: Spencer, he says there's no such person as Charles DiLaurentis in our family.
Spencer: Ali, I'm gonna say this as delicately as I can. Your father is a liar.
Alison: That was the delicate way?
Spencer: He didn't say "Let me think," or ask you where you heard the name, or who asked about it. He just shut you down. Why?
Alison: [while Spencer pours orange juice] I suppose you wanna go to the police about this.
Spencer: No. Not really. I don't wanna walk into any more police stations with any more theories. Let the cops figure it out.
Alison: Figure what out? That I am somehow related to someone named Charles DiLaurentis, who really is Andrew Campbell? What do you think happened? That goblins snuck into the Campbell house and switched babies on them?
Spencer: We both know that there are more conventional ways somebody can end up with more than two parents. That's how you and I got to share a brother.
[Alison doesn't take her drink as she considers all this]
Spencer: Thank you. For getting us out of that place.
[slides glass over towards Alison]
Alison: You'd have done the same for me.
[takes drink]

Jason: Look, I just wanted you guys to hear it from me. I'll text you the details about saying goodbye to Ali.
Spencer: Don't bother. I've said all the goodbye I wanna say.
Emily: Spencer...
Spencer: What? She's St. Ali now? Are her bones holy relics or something?
Hanna: Okay, you need to dial it back.
Spencer: No, you dial it back, okay? I'm finished with all of this. If you guys wanna pay a visit to the Crypt Keeper, that's fine, it's your business, but... keep me out of it!
[goes off]

Spencer: [as a disinterested Hanna quickly darts through a magazine] Are you reading that fast or fanning yourself?
Hanna: [attention elsewhere] What? Um, sorry.
[spots Caleb, stands up from couch]
Emily: Where are you going?
Hanna: I left my lip gloss in the history stack. Gotta find it.
[little smirk, goes off]

Emily: [as Rollins gets hasty burial] No, I don't know if I can live with this! I mean, how can we bury...?
[sobs]
Emily: There has to be another way!
Spencer: There is no other way, Emily! It was a well-thought-out plan. And when it ends up like this, it's called "first degree murder!"
Aria: Look, Spencer's right. Just come on.
[continues to dig]

Spencer: [to Wren] Damn it, I was really hoping for some shock therapy. But maybe you can just wire me to a toaster and press top brown only.

Hanna: [looking at Jenna who is faking being blind] God, what a performance!
[shakes her head]
Emily: Imagine faking it for so long.
Aria: What do you think she's planning?
Spencer: Well, that's what you have to find out.
[Aria looks at her askew]
Spencer: She trusts you. Or at least she wants you to think that she does.
Aria: Great. That's... that's awesome.
Hanna: Hey, I'll trade you Mona for Jenna.
Aria: No, thanks.
Emily: I think I felt safer when Mona wasn't talking.
Spencer: [as Jenna rises] There she goes.
Hanna: We should push a table in front of her and see what happens.
Spencer: God, Hanna, you have all the subtlety of a hand grenade.
Hanna: [doesn't really know that word] Thank you.

Hanna: You led us down the wrong path with all those stupid blocks and anagrams.
Spencer: Charles is still the key to all this.
Hanna: How?
Spencer: A is assuming his identity. He has the DiLaurentis home movie. He had to have known Charles.
Hanna: Charles was institutionalized almost his entire life, Spencer.
Spencer: Exactly. So A must be somebody Charles knew at Radley.

Hanna: [hiking through woods] Whose idea was this again?
Spencer: Emily's Mom.
Emily: The shed was me. My Mom just said we should do something for us.
Hanna: Well, shouldn't we be doing something without mosquitoes?
Aria: They're not mosquitoes, they're gnats.
Hanna: Whatever. They're small and annoying, and they're flying up my nose.
Spencer: Well, they're attracted to your perfume. And your hair product. And your lip gloss.
Hanna: So, what are you saying? I attract flies?
Aria: [turns back to remind her] Gnats.

Hanna: I promised Mona we'd always stay together. We have to figure A keeps souvenirs, right?
Emily: You mean Alison.
Spencer: Different name, same bitch.
Hanna: There has to be something in Ali's house that proves she's killed Bethany. And... Spencer didn't.
Emily: Mona just handed us a way to give you a Christmas, Spence.
Aria: And your stay-out-of-jail-free card.

Spencer: Can you believe it's been three years since we've been in Madrid?
Caleb: [makes whistling sound] That's crazy.
Spencer: I don't think I'm ever gonna forgive you for dragging me to that awful bullfight.
Caleb: Come on, it was not that awful. It was awful after you started yelling "Savages!" at the drunk crowd.
Spencer: It was terrible from the beginning, that's why I was screaming.
[Caleb laughs]
Spencer: It was awful!
Caleb: Okay.
Spencer: You made me cry!
Caleb: I didn't make you do anything.
Spencer: You had to stop me from crying in the street.
Caleb: [laughing] You were... you were pretty livid.
Spencer: [laughs, shakes her head] It was not okay.
Caleb: Okay, I redeemed myself when I snuck us into Retiro Park with a couple bottles of sangria.
Spencer: Yeah, you did.
[fond memory]
Spencer: Oh, my God, that was the most beautiful sunrise.
Caleb: [softly] Yeah. That was my best night in Europe.
Spencer: Mine, too. Hands down.
Caleb: [softly] Yeah.

Hanna: Emily and I are gonna hide behind the organ and just... see who shows up.
Spencer: I don't think that you should...
Hanna: Look, Spencer, it's not about confronting, okay? I just wanna see who it is, so I'll know how to plan a real attack.
[Spencer gives her quizzical look]
Hanna: We. When we attack.
Spencer: Just be careful. And wear sensible shoes.
Hanna: Hey, I wear three inches or I wear nothing.
[shakes her head]

Spencer: She helped you?
Sam: She was so focused. No, determined. I think she learned more in a year than most people learn here in four. I guess she was motivated to get out of here.
Spencer: For, like, field trips?
Sam: [smiles] It's not like we're in jail. And they encourage us to get out on our own and practice, or whatever. It's nice to have a change of scenery. It's a joke, Spencer. You can laugh.
Spencer: No, I'm sorry. Uh... uh, I... I guess I was just wondering where she went. Did she ever tell you... where she went or who she met?
Sam: She kept saying she had things she had to do back home. I haven't talked to her in a while.
[shakes his head]
Sam: Whatever it is, I hope she did it.
[chuckles, but Spencer looks pained]

Hanna: God, Spencer, what is taking your Mom so long?
Spencer: Courts run on judge time, not lawyer time.

Hanna: [Spencer is feeding the raccoon cheese sticks] Okay, Spencer, not all of them. That's my dinner.
Spencer: Shut up!

Spencer: [to Aria] C'mon, we're Team Sparia.

Aria: So... that's why you were never charged for shoplifting?
Hanna: Okay, you know what, no jokes, no judging.
Spencer: [frowns] All this is over a pair of designer sunglasses?
[Hanna scowls at her]
Spencer: I'm sorry. I'm just still processing.
Hanna: [shakes her head] God, if my Mom knew that I told you guys this...
[wipes hair away from her eyes]
Emily: We'd never judge her. I mean, she took me in. She's amazing. My Mom would have driven me to the station and offered to take the mug-shot.
Spencer: Yeah, the real question is why is A suddenly going after Mona? What, we're not enough?
Hanna: [sits down on bed as well] A knows we're getting closer.
Aria: They can't turn us against each other, so they're using our friends to hurt us.
Emily: How much did you tell Mona about A?
Hanna: Nothing. I didn't... say anything.
[shakes her head]
Hanna: But I feel like I should.
[glances at Spencer]
Hanna: We all know what A is capable of.
Spencer: Yeah, that's exactly why the less Mona knows, the better.
Hanna: Guess you're right. I just feel bad lying to her.
[gets up]
Aria: Where are you going?
Hanna: I haven't eaten anything all day. I'm starting to get a twitch.
Spencer: When you go down there, could you check outside and see if Garrett's car is still out front?
Hanna: Yeah.
[goes out the door]
Spencer: [to Aria] He followed me home.

Hanna: [at Alison's crypt] Okay, I've been thinking, and I have a theory.
Spencer: [skeptical] You have what?
Hanna: [holding her own] A theory. Do you wanna hear it or not?
Aria: Hey, guys, don't... don't fight in the crypt.
Hanna: Hey, look. Ali's not in the box. She's alive somewhere. But somebody is dead. And that somebody must have been buried in the backyard after Ali was pulled out, and before the men came in to set up the gaze-bo, and pour the cement.
Spencer: [correcting way Hanna pronounced] "Gazebo."
Hanna: Whatever! It still means that there's a girl missing somewhere. And that girl went missing around the time Ali did. So we figure out who's really in there, and connect them with someone we do know, then... that would solve the whole thing.
Aria: Yeah, but the body that was in the box was identified as Ali. How... how did that happen?
Emily: I don't know how, but it was.
Aria: Yeah, so, why?
Hanna: Because... it was important to somebody that we think it was Ali.
Spencer: You're right, that's an actual theory.
Hanna: [smiles] Apology accepted.
Emily: [looking at Alison's crypt] Knock, knock...
Aria: Who's there?

Hanna: This isn't happening!
Alison: Yes, it is.
Hanna: No, A.D. doesn't get to poison Caleb, bankrupt Lucas' company, ruin my reputation, and then expose us for murder all in one go! No!
Spencer: Hanna...
Hanna: What? What are the stupid rules to this game anyways? Every time we fail a turn, the cops get a piece of Archer? What's next, his kneecaps or his earlobes?
Aria: Or the video... of you two digging up the grave. We already know that A.D. has that.
Emily: Is this punishment for Charlotte? We didn't find the killer, and now A.D.'s gonna help the cops find us?

Spencer: [to Hanna] So you just decided to go rogue?
Hanna: Well, I was sure Noel was our guy and you guys were just getting cold feet.
Spencer: Hanna, if by "cold feet" you mean we weren't willing to abduct someone and beat a confession out of them, then, yes, we got cold feet.
Hanna: I'm sorry. I thought if I did this on my own, I could prove to you guys that Noel was A.D.
Aria: I cannot help but notice you keep talking in the past tense.
Hanna: Well, there is a problem.
Emily: What problem?
Hanna: I was wrong. I got the test results back, and Noel isn't Mary's second child.
Alison: He isn't?
Hanna: [dejected look] No.
Aria: So, you're saying he's not A.D.?
Hanna: Well, I'm not really saying that either.
Alison: What *are* you saying, Hanna?
Hanna: I'm saying I have Noel tied up to a chair in an old motel room, and we need to deal with that.
Spencer: So we're "we" again?
Emily: Guys, forget about the blood test. Noel pushed a girl down a flight of stairs and tormented us in the dollhouse.
Alison: Emily is right. Just because he's not Mary's kid doesn't mean he's not A.D.
Hanna: How do we know for sure?
Aria: Well, why dont we ask Noel?

Toby: Spencer, I know you. When you want answers, you get them.
Spencer: Yeah, well, you might know me, but you don't know my Dad.
[gets up]
Spencer: And when he tells me to mind my own business, that's what I do. So can you just get over it?

Toby: You know that's my shirt.
Spencer: Yeah, and you're never getting it back.
Toby: I don't want it back.
[they kiss]
Toby: You look better in it than I do.

Toby: [about to drive off] Spencer, I don't feel like asking questions, and not when I'm getting answers.
Spencer: [climbing into truck with him] Yeah, and they also feed turkeys lots of tasty treats before they chop their heads off.

Spencer: You know what they say about hope. It breeds eternal misery.

Caleb: Poor Mona.
Spencer: What did you just say?
Caleb: She always wanted to be in charge of everything.
Spencer: She ends up middle management. That's gotta hurt.

Spencer: [sees her friend taking quick swig from her little flask] Hanna, easy.
Hanna: You know, last time I checked, it was still my bedroom! Until someone else - God! - invaded it! Even the doorknob smells like her.
Spencer: [still clutching her eye] Why were you smelling the doorknob?

Spencer: [on phone] What do you mean, gone?
Emily: [at computer] I mean gone, blank, zeroed out. Somebody got in here and erased the whole drive.
Spencer: Who?
Emily: The real estate agent's been bringing people in here all the time. I mean, the laptop's been sitting on my desk.
Spencer: Are you saying that A just walked in and wiped your drive?
[sighs]
Spencer: What am I talking about? Of course they did.
Emily: It's gone, Spence. All the videos of Ian are gone.
Spencer: Yeah, except for the one Ian had when he fell.
[door opens]
Spencer: Look, we're gonna talk at school, okay?
Emily: How?
Spencer: We'll figure it out.

Hanna: [sighs] Well, that was awkward.
Spencer: Was that speech directed at us?
Hanna: [shakes her head] Not at us. But... Aria maybe.
Spencer: Why would Alison think that Aria had anything to do with Charlotte's death?
Hanna: Maybe she did. Aria left the hotel the night that she was killed.
Spencer: How do you know this?
Hanna: I saw her. She left around 3 a.m. and I don't know when she got back.
[shakes her head]
Spencer: Let's just ask her.
Hanna: I tried that. She denied going anywhere but her car.
Spencer: Okay, well, there are surveillance cameras, right? In the lobby of the hotel?
Hanna: Yeah?
Spencer: Your Mom's the manager. So maybe you could find a way to look at the footage from that night.
Hanna: No. I don't do stuff like that anymore.
Spencer: Hanna... I know it's a lot to ask, okay? But how else are we supposed to be sure that Aria came back before Charlotte died?

Spencer: All of us? What does your Mom want with all of us?
Emily: Well, I think she's mostly asking Ali.
Alison: It's not like your Mom. She's a planner.
Hanna: Okay, I'm pretty sure Emily's Mom is not one of Mona's secret ninjas. Are we supposed to be suspicious of everyone now?
Alison: Saves time.

Lieutenant: I can tell you're surprised by Detective Furey's absence.
Spencer: No, it just seemed sudden, that's all.
Lieutenant: Did it? My understanding is he was a good cop, but that here in Rosewood he seemed... distracted. Does that seem like a fair characterization?
Spencer: [shrugging gesture] I really couldn't say.
Lieutenant: Nothing in your relationship led you to believe that he was conflicted in his approach to solving the murder of Archer Dunhill?
Spencer: [earnestly] No.
Lieutenant: [comes to sit right in front of Spencer, whispering:] Furey told me everything, Ms. Hastings. From barstools to ping-pong... right before he took himself... off the case.
[Spencer avoids eye contact]
Lieutenant: I'm giving you a chance to tell the truth.
[nods]
Lieutenant: Oh, but I guess
[sighs]
Lieutenant: old habits die hard. I am impressed by how well you played him. But then again, I remember how adept you and your friends are at that sort of thing.
Spencer: That's not fair.
Lieutenant: Oh, fair is overrated. Truth is what counts.

[the girls each get a text message]
Aria: Oh my god.
Hanna: It's from...
Emily: I got one, too.
Spencer: [reading text] I'm still here, bitches...
Spencer: [together] ... And I know everything. A.

Spencer: The only thing your dream is telling you is that you should be drinking warm milk before bed.

Toby: Do you want me to talk to your Dad?
Spencer: Good luck finding him. He's been avoiding me like the plague.
Toby: Does Alison know? What you think he did to her Mom?
Spencer: Not the kind of information that I wanna arm her with until I know for sure that he did it.
Toby: So, if action is character, then who is Alison now?
Spencer: You've been reading Fitzgerald.
Toby: I've been rereading Fitzgerald. I already know Alison's story, but it's hard to picture her as a victim.
Spencer: She seemed really genuine when she said that what she's been through changed her, and I wanna believe her...
Toby: But you don't.
Spencer: Well, how can I believe a story that I haven't been told? If the truth is in the details, we still don't know what happened to her.
Toby: Hey, Spencer, we wouldn't be us if we didn't believe in second chances, but it's okay to close the door on someone who's toxic.

Toby: [as Mona drives past honking car horn] There was a time when Mona would have driven right over us.
[confidential: ]
Toby: She must be making progress.
Spencer: Yeah. She's working on her aim.

Spencer: I don't remember you on Mamma Mia!
Hanna: Good. Because I looked fat and hideous and I had to stand next to a cardboard goat.

Spencer: Oh, my God.
Hanna: What? What's inside the boxes?
Spencer: They're unassembled cages.
Hanna: Cages? For what?
Spencer: They're not for gerbils, Hanna. There's four of them. And each one of them is big enough for...
Hanna: What?
Spencer: For us!

Emily: [as Hanna can't keep her eyes off the framed portraits being removed from the gallery] How can she keep looking at them? I mean, just thinking about them makes me wanna hurl. Charles took pictures of us while we were unconscious.
Spencer: It's like a car wreck, okay? Some people look away, and other people stop and stare.

Alison: [text message] It's from A!
Ezra: What does it say?
Aria: "Did you miss me, bitches?"
Emily: It can't be. Shana's dead!
Hanna: Where's Toby?
Spencer: I don't know...!

Jenna: We all make mistakes. Remember, I'm still paying for yours.
Hanna: [after Jenna leaves, whispers:] Sick.
Aria: For all we know, she wrote that story.
Emily: And we still don't know how Ali got the video.
Spencer: Yes, we do. That video was Alison's insurance policy... and she cashed it in the day that she got it.
Aria: Which means she was with Ian when she found it.
Spencer: And she couldn't wait to play that video for Jenna. God, do you remember how happy Ali was when she came back from that trip? I think it's because for her, the Jenna thing was over.
Hanna: [smirks] Nice of her to share the safety net with us.
Emily: "Wait for it, girls. Wait for it!"
Spencer: Wait for what?
Emily: That's what Ali said when we met her at the taxi. Maybe that's what we were waiting for.
Aria: Do you remember at Alison's funeral when we were all wondering why Jenna was there? If she's telling the truth, Jenna came back because she could.
Hanna: And Ali's the one who got buried.

Emily: [as Spencer sits down] Hey, are you okay?
Aria: Yeah, we didn't think you were coming in today.
Spencer: I have to be someplace other than my house.
Hanna: Are the cops still there?
Spencer: They came and went.
Aria: They actually took things?
Spencer: Not so much. My Mom says they did it just to shake me up.
Hanna: What did they take?
Spencer: Um, things from my jewelry box... Stuff from my closet, a couple pairs of shoes.
Hanna: Wait, not the Tory Burches?
Aria: [chiding] Hanna.
[Hanna scoffs]
Spencer: No, sneakers. They wanted my laptop, but my Mom said no. It wasn't in the search warrant and they couldn't have it. I think you guys should know that there's a chance that they might try to pull this on you.
Emily: [faltering voice] Search our rooms?
Spencer: My Mom says it's a possibility. I'm so sorry.
Aria: No... it's not your fault.
Hanna: Yeah. We know who's responsible for this.
Spencer: I should have known that trophy was some kind of trap. It's like I can hear A laughing in my head.
Hanna: Does A sound like Jenna?

Hanna: [at Radley Hotel] They're gonna ask us questions about that night.
Aria: Yeah. We we're... all together. None of us left the hotel. What else is there to say?
Spencer: I think the person the cops should really be talking to is right over there.
[indicates Sara at reception]
Spencer: Can she really not sign her own name?
Emily: You guys still haven't told anyone about what happened, have you?
Aria: Do we really believe she doesn't remember?
Hanna: I think she's lying. Just like she lied about having Swedish syndrome to get her sentence reduced.
Spencer: Stockholm syndrome. And it is a real thing.
Hanna: She was never kidnapped, Spencer. She was living out in the world. She chose to help Charlotte torture us.
Aria: Yeah, well, the judge didn't see it that way.
Spencer: If Sara really was brainwashed, she'd have a pretty strong motive to kill Charlotte. Revenge.

Ella: [in class, Spencer got text on her phone, and is now on her way out] Spencer? Are you all right?
[tries: ]
Ella: Spencer!
Spencer: I need to go!
Ella: Go where?
Spencer: Home.
Ella: Is something wrong? Do you want me to call your Mom?
Spencer: For what?
[other students look up, amused]
Ella: You can't just storm out of the classroom without a legitimate excuse.
Spencer: I don't wanna be here anymore. Is that legitimate enough?
Ella: What is going on with you?
Spencer: I don't need to sit in a room and read books about made-up people who've been screwed over. Okay, I get it. And it's not gonna prepare me for what I have to do when I walk out of this building.
[yelling: ]
Spencer: It is a complete waste of my time!
[rushes off, leaving Ella dismayed]

Hanna: Kate's moving to Rosewood.
Spencer: [whirling around] What?
Hanna: Yeah. Yeah, my Dad and Isabel got married, and now... they're looking for a house here... in Rosewood. So now I have more than one monster in my life. Okay? I win.
Emily: No, you don't! I was almost killed! These aren't highlights, Hanna, this is glass in my hair!

Detective: [still in interrogation room] Are you okay?
Spencer: That's sort of like setting fire to my house and then asking me if I'm too warm.
Detective: Spencer, I can't help you unless you tell me the truth.
Spencer: Really? You wanna pull good cop / bad cop on me?
Detective: Please. You're standing on quicksand. The more you struggle, the faster it's gonna pull you under. I'm offering you a rope. Take it.

Hanna: [to Alison] Do you need anything? Tea?
Alison: No.
Hanna: [her hand on Emily's shoulder] Em.
Aria: [arrives] Hey, guys. Sorry I'm late. What's going on?
Spencer: Where were you? We were calling.
Aria: Yeah, sorry,
[lying: ]
Aria: I was helping Ezra with Nicole. Did something happen?
Emily: Yeah, something happened. For starters, you left Ali. You just abandoned her when she needed you.
Aria: Ali... I'm sorry. Are you okay?
Emily: No! No. She's not okay. I'm not okay. No one's okay.
Spencer: Em, she doesn't know.
Aria: I don't know what?
Emily: [raised voice] That A.D. stopped playing games and started playing God!
Spencer: A.D. stole Emily's eggs from the domation bank, fertilized them, and then used them to impregnate Ali.
Aria: [incredulously] What?
Hanna: [mutters] Still sounds crazy.
Aria: Guys... I don't know what to say...
Spencer: [to Emily and Ali] No one can imagine how violated and confused you both must feel right now. But Aria's turn is up next... and who knows what A.D. is gonna do to her. We need each other. We cannot let this game rip us apart, no matter what.
